Heres a question for you guys. I was prescribed some painkillers for a back injury, but I am hesitant to use them, even though I need them. Will they effect gains in anyway? Raise cortisol or anything like that?

i was on em for a year and there was nothing better than a nasty workout and then some vicodins to melt my body. be careful it is quite addictive

No, they won't just be careful it's easy to pop them when you bust your balls at the gym, it's all good though, good luck bro

bro hook it up with the vicodin source :).....jk

If you have an injury best medice is rest, you'll loose more gains if you can't move or further injure yourself, your back stabilizes lots of your movements meaning that you can hurt further .............if the pain is unberable take them, if not stick with ibuprofen......don't know what your Dr prescribed but if it's an opionate there is a potential of getting hooked....

But is a personal call, not a Dr but personal experience tells me some....get better

I have an unlimited supply of percocet, vicodin, oxycontin, etc... poppy tea works better and is MUCH stronger, but like people say, BE CAREFUL, I had a bad back injury, and the docs pretty much throw the stuff at me. My body got addicted and I am tapering off ALL opiates on something called Suboxone. They give it to heroin addicts to keep them from going through withdrawals.

I thought I read somewhere that opiates could mess with protein synthesis. Has anybody else heard that?

I did a little bit of research on painkillers and it's effect on protein synthesis. When Is ay painkillers I mean advil or tylenol or the like. I found the general rule of thumb to be anything over 400 milligrams in a day will start ti affect the synthesis, but it is minimul.

not a fan of painkillers. if you really need then use them. if your on AAS I would avoid them,
