Pain over the kneecap?

I have this pain over my kneecap occasionally, most noticeably if my body doesn't think I get enough warmups before squats. I feels like it starts at the top of the kneecap and then kind of envelops the kneecap. It's not severe, just noticeable.

I normally warm the legs with 5 - 10 minutes on the stationary bike. After I've done a couple of warm up sets of squats with 60% weight, it seems to dull down to almost unnoticeable. I get through squats and leg presses along with the remainder of my leg routine just fine after that.

What the heck is going on? Oh, I'm not a spring chicken either, so being in my mid 40s may likely be problematic for that also.

sounds like old age...j/k

tendinitis... you might need some anti-inflammatory meds. Talk to an orthopedic guy.
 
First off quit flirting with MsBH I have claimed her for my own ;)

As for you knee could be mild tendonitis or possibly your knees are coming forward on your squats causing pressure on the patellar tendon. Or also could be the bursa on the underside of the patella.

I have my workout partner keep close watch to make sure my knees don't come forward. At this point I can actually feel when I start to do that as the weight shifts forward to the toes at the point my knees move in front of the toes.

I will have it checked out though. I like squatting to much to get an injury now that would keep me from doing them.

Claim her all you want. I can still flirt. :biggrin:
