pain in groin area doing squats

p.b.

Banned
has anyone experienced pain in the upper quads or the groin area doing squats. my form is good im sure i dont know what it is.

sorry, but i dont think or feel the pain while im squatting...im too busy focusing on pushing my ass off so i dont give up and fall on it

Do you go ass to floor? You may need to stretch some more, or do some warmup sets. It may just be straining your muscles in that area.

oh my, you are so intense. i wish i could be as hardcore.

tom is right, have you tried a presquat warmup? static stretching the hip flexors (don't static stretch other prime movers) can help.

also, could you elaborate on the pain? what does it feel like, does it radiate? where is it most concentrated?

I squat with a fairly wide stance and if I dont warm up good and stretch than I have had groin pain. Do warm up good as it takes forever to heal it seems.

you know, many people may say WTF to this... but for me, it's worked to do some light deadlifting before i go for a big squat.

doing like 20reps of 75lbs and some shrugs/cleans really gets the sweat going. and it's kinda fun too :)

Could be weak hip flexors.

Stretch, take several warm ups, look at your entire workout schedule for the week and see if you are possibly overtraining those muscles, and train them!!!!

You know those little machines where women sit on them and work their inner and outer leg? Use it!!!! It works. Lots of powerlifters use them because they strengthen those muscles which will in turn give them a safer and stronger squat.

I used one every week while I was overseas on February.

:lmao: The embaressment of that. Especially after I've laughed at so many people using it.

yea i do feel like i have week hip flexors. i get pain in my hips all the time when im working out. i dont kno why but even when im doin bench on my last rap when im really straining ill get sharp pain in the side of my right hip usually. ive had it in the left before also.

I don't believe mine to be weak, but I want to use one of those machines just to strengthen that area as a "just in case" thing. I've been working my rotator cuffs every workout (3x a week) with one slow and controlled set of, eh, rotator curls (lay on side, hold dumbbell, rotate arm outward with elbow at side) for 5 reps, then 6, then 8. At first it burned a lot to do them. Now it feels almost refreshing, and I plan to up the weight a little bit (a pound or two) so I can keep them strong. Trying to prevent injury before I get any inclination of it coming.

Yeah...I know.

Thing is...nobody will be laughing at YOU when your squat goes up :)

tied them to door handles to work hip adductors, and used bands wrapped around my knees to work hip abductors

look up the "chick" exercises.

Dude you 'prolly pulled something. take a week off and you should be fine. io did at the doc's advice and am glad i did, as I had a pain my left nut and left side of my ab wall. Thought it was a hernia, but the doc told me it sounded like a strain or pull, to relax for a week. No worries now.
