Pacers Brawl With Fans During piston game

the best was the fighting with the fans......and then the fans dousing them all with beverages....lol
 
Basletball players have to be among the worst fighters in the world. Many punches thrown, but hardly any ever land. I think their arms are too damn long.
 
Those fans that got hit are gonna get paid!!!!!!! Damn, I wish I could get socked by an NBA player on camera.

Haven't seen any film,but from what I read with a 15 point lead and 45 seconds to go,a hard foul to Wallace was unnecessary. And Wallace knew it and reacted as expected,especially on his home court.
Maybe that fan that approached him yelling with his fists raised knew exactly what he was doing.
 
I happened to turn it to ESPN just as Wallace was fouled by Artest and Wallace shoved
his hands into Artest's face. It then started getting out of hand. What a disgrace to professional sports.

Very few classy professional players in all sports left these days. One reason I do not watch professional sports much these days. College sports are right behind them.
 
Ron Artest should be in prison. He's always been a hothead and is a hazzard to society. I bet "Bubba" would straighten him out pretty quick.

It all started when Detroit's Ben Wallace went in for a layup and was fouled hard by Artest from behind. -

Now the fans were out of hand there is not excuse for them to throw shit at players but you know what it happens all the time. If you look at South America soccer games, European soccer players get shit thrown at them all the time, fruits, Bottles, everything.......... You dont see this soccer players go to the stands to fight the crowd they just run inside the tunnel but hey Artest is fucking idiot he should be banned for a while and nice pay check cut!!!!!

dangerous as well to be storming into the stands, you never know, a fan could have a weapon of some sort...

this is a classic reason why grown adults will never be served glass bottles at a concert/sports venue lol
 
some guys are always in the middle of shit, see Artest. Notice he did not even go after the bigger guy who really threw the bottle in the white cap. He should have let security handle their business. He is a pro basketball player not a security guard. People pay millions to see him play, players need to realize that without the fans they would be working a fedex.

Artest should get 1 year suspension with no pay.

S Jackson should get 30 games

so you meat head fuckers are telling me that if u were laying down relaxing and someone through a full beer that hit you in the head you would do nothing about it? it was the fans fault the fight started and they got what they deserved, especially the fans that got hit on the court they have no reason being on there and the players were just defending themselves, before you go off bashing the basketball players watch the espn highlights, they slowed down the film and pointed out everything that happened which was like 20 things at once, while i admit it was stupid for artest to go into the crowd, a full beer was thrown and hit him in the face then when he went in the crowd there were 3 or 4 fans punching different pacer players, once again if you were punched would you defend yourself?, then artest went back onto the court were he was greeted by a pistons fan that looked as if he was going to hit him so artest once again defended himself, jermain oneal clocked the fuck out of one of the fans but he was also on the court where he should never of been, then fans started throwing full cups at the players completly soaking them, the fans should be banned for life not the basketballl players, the only thing the basketball players did wrong in this situation is go into the crowd, however they were provoked by getting hit in the face, and artest did foul wallace hard but wallace over reacted and pushed artest in the face, after that artest did notging but lay down and get hit

so long story short if someone throws a full cup of beer at my face im going to do something about it not just sit there, and im sure all of you feel the same way too

the bball players should be suspended no longer than 10 games, i could see a year suspension if they would have started the fight but artest was assualted first

Things are different when you are a pro player. First he got hit in the chest with a plastic bottle, it cleary did not inflict any damage. At that point Artest should have pointed the fan out and had him arrested. End of situation.

Instead the moron goes against the code, jumps in the stands and starts a full riot. The NBA is very lucky that the fans did not just charge the court, because no one can handle 20, 000 people in a rage. Artest has to realize that playing in the NBA means following the rules bar none. Point is they are lucky no one died.

One year will let him think about if he still wants that big dawg paycheck.

- The fight started on the court, with a hard foul from Artest to Wallace, and Wallace retaliating with a hand shoved in Artest's face/head.

-Another good point. Just because this is something that rarely happens in this country doesn't mean that players should take matters into their own hands and fight with the people that are making their careers possible.

The fans responsible for throwing the beverages should either
A: Have their season tickets revoked for the season if they are season ticket holders.
or
B: Be banned from The Palace forever.

The players involved should forfeit their salaries for this season, and be suspended for 20 games, plus be required to make a public apology during one of thier many press conferences, and be forced to watch the fight tape(there is something humbling about watching oneself's own poor behavior to reflect upon it that sticks, assuming they have a brain competent enough to do this with).

All in all, there will always be cases in sports where offending parties will have to learn the hard way.

The problem with situations like this is that it will be nearly impossible regardless of whatever punishments are dished out to the players/fans, because people primarily behave on instinct, and will not take the time to recall past incidents that would help them to control their future actions.
 
It's obvious a lot of you never played sports or never played very hard anyway. If you aren't emotionally charged at the end of a hard fought game you shouldn't be playing. You're telling me your using all the will power you have not to get into a fight and then some fuck blasts you with a beer and you're not going to react?

Artest shouldn't have gone into the stands but his reaction is one that most of us would have had even if most won't admit it. Suspend Artest and Jackson for 5 games, Ben Wallace for 2 games. Anyone that threw punches with fans on the court should not be punished at all. The Detroit fans involved should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

We pay to see these guys give it all they have on the court then expect them to be able to turn that emotion off when some drunk thugs get out of line? I don't agree.

When you have fans who think they have the right to interfere ie. throw cups, bottles on the players, you're going to have players who react in the heat of the moment.

When you consider it's Ron Artest, I don't think this is shocking at all. He's like Charles Barkley and Dennis Rodman rolled in to one, with a slightly more thuggish demeanor.

If that would of happened in europe fans would be the once blamed without any questions, as a matter of fact similar scenario happened when I was there, so the that was hosting the game was supposed to put up a hockey type fencing around the court to protect the players.


90% of those fans are fatasses going there to eat and pretend like they know anything about basketball.

1) A BEER BOTTLE WAS NOT THOWN AT ARTEST. I recorded the whole thing & watched it forward & back, slow & normal for 30 minutes.....it was a Blue Plastic Cup and IT HIT HIM IN THE CHEST THEN BOUNCED UP & HIT HIM IN HIS CHEEK..... now, that may not make much of a difference (the beer did hit him) he has a responsibility as a "professional" to act as such and be better than the idiot fan he encounters...

2) The alleged "disprespect" thing is old and not an excuse to act violently. You're in the big leagues now son, act like it....

it was clear that it was a cup of coke or beer, as soon as he got up there the other guy splashed right in his face with cup of beer again.

I saw that guy too......wearing a grey shirt or sweatshirt....after he gave a couple punches,etc....ESPN showed a ~ 10 yo kid comforting a ~ 6 yo kid who was crying & that SAME guy came over to collect them.....

Now that's nice!! Leave your kids to go get in a fight with the basketball players..... :rolleyes:

While player protection is important, and I'm not saying what the fan did was right..... the means doesn't justify the end in this case....

A thrown plastic cup filled with a liquid doesn't justify assault & battery....

Now if you really want player protection they should: ban all alcoholic beverages, ban all beverage containers from seats, put in a buffer zone between fans & players (bring back the cage or something similar), have an enormous amount of security who would've swept down like a cloak over that fan & taken him away before Artest even would've gotten that close to the fan, etc.....

As a highly paid professional, Artest needs to grow up & lose the 'tude......he's supposed to be a professional & needs to act like it...

Those players have hearts bigger than anyone else, you know how they say it's not the size of a dog in a fight, it's the size of a fight in a dog. Well it's true, Someone like gary payton will go up against anyone you put infront of him, same goes for artest but in this situation he found enaugh stregth to get out of the fight untill some little punk provoked him, gettin splasshed with a beer in a situation like that is worse than gettin pushed. Cause once again, you're Adrenalin flowing, theres fans probobly yelling all kinds of racial slurs and all of a sudden, splash and you get hit with a beer, obviously you will explode.
