Overtraining, Is It A Myth Or Reality?

Overtraining is different for everyone.

Agreed. Overtraining is different for everyone because everyone has different lifestyles(partying too much, drinking, recreational drugs), genetics, eating, training, and gets differnt amouns of rest. Let's not forget anabolics and how much you are taking as well.

Hey I see a few people at the gym doing chest every day.:D
Do they grow? Hell no.
They still look the same way they did before.:p

I hate to throw an idiotic observation into the mix... but I watched a kid train chest every day at my last gym. He benched reps at 405lbs... 5-6 rep sets... usually 4-5 sets. I told him he was nuts. He said everybody told him he shouldn't train every day... but it is what let him get in shape for football.

everyone is different....overtraining is 100% NOT a myth.....unfortunately you would have to test yourself by trial and error....training a body part once a week is plenty----Your diet and rest is the real golden ticket!

definitely not a myth, once i got my gym time down to under 45 minutes i grew and looked much better!!!

Also arent the chances of overtraining while on AAS alot less likely because of the sped up recovery time???

Overtraining is not a myth, though I do agree with Dr. M that the term is overused without taking into acount the individuality associated. Everyone will eventually overtrain, however, the point (volume/frequency) at which they will overtrain is different for everyone. Even that kid who was blowing up training chest 5-6 times a week could eventually overtrain. His threshold for overtraining is just much higher than your average trainer. You must experiment, find your threshold and bring yourself to that point without superseding it. Just like diet (and everything in this game), training is individual and only through experimentation can you find what is optimal for you.

Overtraining.......I guess it depends on the individual. I have been overtraining for years now, impeding my growth. I eased back my training duration and intensity and I put on more mass and felt better. Who would of thought? However, I have seen a select few that blow up training body parts eod for long durations. I would like to believe that I am in the higher percentile with regards to genetics and growth but I've seen a few bro's over the years that are non-stop and fucking intense, and they grow like weeds. So, in short, it depends on your genetics and the ability to find out how to reach your potential.

i do believe in overtraining. i kept up the same intensity when i came off of my last cycle, something i never do but i thought i would give it a try, and ended up overtraing bad. i took 3 months off training and lost a good amount of weight. now i'm training again in my usual range and have gained most of the weight back.
