Overtraining, Is It A Myth Or Reality?

There has been so talk that overtraining does not exist. And look at Arnold. He did lots of sets per exercise and spent hours at the gym and he did fine. So is overtraining real or not?

Do they grow? Hell no.

Poor fools...... Oh well they will learn how there body works some day. When I first started lifting when I was 12 all I did was chest and biceps. Ahhh the old days. :p
 
I believe in giving each muscle group at least 6-7 days of rest, but when it comes to sets, I will sometimes do up to 4 different excercises, 4 - 5 sets each for biceps alone.

I agree with you, but, theres an ex-NFL player that lifts in my gym, probably in his early 30's, lifts chest 2-3 days per week and is strong as a mofo. when I asked him about it, he said he grows faster and gets stronger than when lifting chest once per week.

I guess some people can get away with it, but others cant. I guess it all comes down to genetics.
 
Its reality, but I think most people overuse the term. I've worked the body 3x a week and thats when I made the best gains, that was almost 10 years ago, all the stretch marks on my arms are from that period.
 
I also believe that if you train your chest 1 day per week for a year straight, you need to give it a little shock and train it 2 or 3 times one week, then go back to 1 day per week for a while.
