Ok - ive had that problem for years but never asked anyone about it. Well it seems here are all the experts so here it goes ...
No matter what exercise, no matter db or bb, no matter behind of in front of the head, everytime i have weight over my head whilst seating / standing something in my shoulders locks. Feels like external rotator cuff. When i start to move the weight down again, this something starts to pull on my external rotators. If the weight is light, it kind of snaps halfway down and the pull is gone. If the weight is heavier, i have pain and cant complete the down movement. I can prevent this from happening when i move my elbows back before starting to move downwards, so my forearms are not 90° to the floor but are tilted forwards (so that my elbows are behind my wrists, and the elbows are behind my back/sholders).
This problem ceases the further i lean back, if it starts to become some kind of incline bench press i have no problems at all.
So ... i can manage that when i really concentrate, but it gets annoying with heavier weight (above 50kg - i know thats not heavy for most of you), or when concentration fails.
It is no very big problem, but if anyone would have an idea how to make this go away i would be very glad.
Thanks, much appreciated !!
