Hello guys… I have been lurking around your forums for the past few months, finally deciding to become a member today.
In August 2003, I weighted in at 372 lbs with a 52 waist / 63 stomach measurements. I started a weight training regimen with my current personal trainer. From August 2003 to Jan 2004 I lost 57lbs and I am down to a 44 waist 52 stomach measurements.
I see my trainer 3 times a week and we spend 30 minutes on stretches and what she calls core exercises, then we spend 1 hour on the target body parts (ie Back and Biceps one day, legs and shoulders another day, chest and triceps the third). Each week she rotates the body parts and the different exercise … with all the different combinations … I am not doing the same thing each week. She calls it body shock- to try and help my body let go of fat. Along with the weight training, I am doing cardio 5 days a week. Tuesday and Thursdays on a treadmill and Monday, Wednesday, Friday on a rebock step climber machine.
In Jan 04, I seem to have hit a plateau. I remember when we first started she mentioned that I shouldn’t pay too much attention to the scale. She gave me the typical spill about muscle weight gain and that the true measurement of success is with Measurements and body fat %... but that hasn’t moved much at all either. From Jan 04 to Nov 04, the scale keeps bouncing up and down between 312 and 316 pounds.
I see my self picking up more and more weight with each exercise over time. I know that I am increasing in strength cause I can see it in the weights I am lifting… but over all, there isn’t a change in what matters more to me than any aspect of this struggle – that being my appearance.
My trainer and I are somewhat baffled. While I was expecting to hit a plateau eventually, I wasn’t expecting it to last this long.
Over the past 11 months, while in this plateau slump, I have tried quite a few supplements. Since August 2003, I have been taking a multi-vitamin by Apex which I am currently taking today. The supplements that I have tried at various times were Apex Lipotropics, Pyruvate, Tolan’s CLA, Thermadrol, HydroCut, and Hot-Roxs. All Over-The-Counter supplements… but they haven’t seemed to help.
I stumbled onto this site looking into the concept of steroids. Off and on again, I change my mind about using them. The major two concerns being legal and the fact that I could actually kill myself if I am not careful.
I have read the information on this site about Clenbuterol. It seems to be a steroid that I should try (if I decide to try any at all). But I am curious about supplements that are legal and safer. I would rather try that route first.
Anyone have any supplement recommendations?
Thanks
