Over 40 to 45 year old question. All ages advice welcome.

I seem to be a dinosaur at my gym. Most over 40 guys do not get near my weight or style.

History:

I am 45 and also recovering from a near fatal auto accident. 2 years of rehab and to many hospital stays to mention, 3.5 years total away from the gym.

Currently, I am only back at the gym for a little over a year and into my second cycle, first was extreme beginners and I am only steady at the gym each week as with my new cycle. Trained for pro in late 70's thru 80's, never got the nod. I have trained almost all my life for me which is what I am doing now. My style is more of a power lifter not body builder, I no I will never reach that look again. However, I love the feel of strength

Since I got back I started completely from scratch, I have a long way to go, I am not near the physical shape I will settle for. However, why am I alone, except lots of younger nice people which I work out with some, and chat with most, it is great. But why are all the other guys my age on the other side of the room, or am I on the wrong side, am I fooling myself.

Basic Stats:

Age 45
Wt 240 lbs
Ht 6’ 1”
BF 18% (might be off, not checked recently)
Diet 3500 to 4000 cal/day
300 to 400 protien/day
Good Vitamin and Mineral intake

Work out:
Moderate to heavy/ 6 days
2 cardio and moderate weight.
4 Heavy
App 1.5 to 2 hrs.

Current Cycle, wk 5:
Test C
Dec
Prov
Clom

Question:

Am I the only older guy in the game, a rarity, at the wrong gym or on the wrong side?

Any advice or comparable circumstances welcome.

Thanks for your help and also thanks for the warm welcome from some I recieved as a newbe.

Remember; You are only as old as you allow your mind to make you believe.

You are not by yourself. I am 43 next week. After 2 surgeries I decided to cycle again after 17 years. I too love the strength and powerful feeling from years ago.

Thanks, before my accident cycling has been part of my life on and off since 18 or so. If I am the test of time to see the long term effects I am great.

How are things at your gym, anyone your age stand out, anyone to relate to?

Thanks

not alone. Turn 40 in may. 5'8, 237 lbs., 12-13% bf, been lifting 11 years.

workout: moderate to heavy, 5 days. cardio 1. Lift 1.5-2 hours each and every time I'm in the gym. Sounds like we need to be lifting at the same place :D

There a guy at my gym who just turned 60 in Nov. ..and I'd be scared to lift with him because I've noticed he does a lot more weight than me.. like 300 lb close-grip benching for triceps.... for reps! Now that's motivation!

No standouts at my Gym. I live in a small town. Mostly kids trying to bench 175lbs one time. I really miss having other similar lifters. It would be nice to have someone my age and level, but just won't happen.

The thing that worries me now is that after I have started using again my strength is getting me to much attention. I don't really want people to know I am on. I am trying not to get to big, just muscular. But I really love to go heavy. I may start training during the slow times at the gym. Any suggestions or should I just tell people Im on NO2 explode or something?

youre not alone man- Im 51-I workout like a madman and have one of the best physiques at GOLDS regardless of age.
Take pride in the fact that you still care enough about how you look and feel that youre still willing to stay focused and disciplined on improving your self and your condition It gets tougher after 40 and gets even tougher after 50.
Ive found that the "kids" at my club are all supportive and very appreciative of any older person that still looks good and works out hard and theyre always asking advice.
As for using gear- youre still not alone. Theres a whole group of us using "responsibly" in conjunction with our workout regime and Id encourage you to do the same. Read everything you can, use moderately, change when you get undesired sides, and stay focused on strengthening your body to full recovery.
youre halfway there when you make the committment.

No shit then you know what I mean, it is a lonely world in the gym if the older you get you don't go to the other side. You are not quite there yet, enjoy your fleeting years LOL. Notice the views on this thread, I should have named it.
Will test make my balls shrink. LOL

Thanks Man, stay healthy and strong and never give up your spot on the floor!.

And K to the old guy

Screw them the only real proof is in your blood. Let them wonder and pack it on. I never explain myself I simply discuss my diet, powder, suppliments untill it makes them dizzy and they wish they did not ask, and I get asked alot.

I must add my .2 cents to this thread:
It's great to see some older guys motivated and getting in there, even after surgical procedures and bad accidents. It takes alot of dedication now, I can't imagine what it will be like 20 years on. It gives me hope that age shouldn't take away my ability to keep doing something I enjoy. Keep up the good work.

I read, study and listen as I did when I was young and I am taking it slow with patience. You know things have changed alot as well as my body. You my friend are a rich man and a model to follow. I might drop you a private line someday.

Thanks
