Other than SEO, how would you advertise online?

SEO means search engine optimization. SEO is my most important way to reach customers, but what other options are noteworthy to you?

I typically focus on popular keywords, as well as longtail keywords, words which aren't as popular but still useful in bringing in customers. Now, however, I'm looking for new ways to communicate with potential customers. I'm sure some of you who post on this thread will list ideas that I already know, but I'm also sure there will be plenty of new strategies.

adwords is expensive and prices are inflated. that'll drain your account before you know wtf happened


I had good results with smaller PPC engines, like overture(the biggest PPC besides google), 7search, and findwhat.

selective advertising in getting directly to your customers. Find out where they hang out, and direct your adv'ing to them.

For ex: AFitness would be silly to advertise on a bus in atlanta. but more sense to advertise here.

I have some friends who run online ad stuff and they have 3 million active member accounts they can email.

If you have a great product or site, you cannot beat access to 3 million people
