Optimum Nutrition's Whey

NitroCBR

New member
Received a 5lb tub of Optimum Nutrition's whey protein. Excellent and very high quality protein. Very easy to mix. Tastes amazingly delicious. IMO, it tastes better than the Triple Threat.

I love their choc, it has been my protein of choice for awhile.

Last week I bought some Chocolate Mint for a change. This flavour rocked as well.

I bought the Double Rich Chocolate and I had two shakes today, so far. I would say this is one of the best tasting protein powders I ever had.

Definately really good protein and at a good cost too. Here in Fort Lauderdale FL a 5 lb container is $25. Not bad, thats like $5 a pound. The regular strawberry is good too. Stay away from the natural strawberry though because it tastes bad.

anyone have the chocolate opt with the exp date of 1-04 on the bottom? and notice the slick thinner taste rather than it being a lil bit thicker?

I will try optimum next, but I will say Big Whey tastes horrible. I just switched to EAS simple protein and it tastes way better and blends better. Big whey is to thick/lumpy, where as eas is more grainy/powdery.

I use both the Optimum 100% Whey and the PowerMass 1000 gainer, and love 'em both.

I keep trying other gainers, and always go back to the Optimum.

Good stuff, IMHO.

No, but Optimum doesn't have the best reputation for meeting label claims.

where'd you hear that? Not disagreeing, but I'd be curious to see some test results, particularly in light of the Triple Threat testing that's been done.

Where did you get this information from? In the mid 1990s Muscle Media said that they didnt meet label claims. Then they said that they changed and they met label claims. If you read their ads you will find that they are one of the largest whey producers in the world if not the largest.

All whey thats packaged and sold at retail basicly comes from the same factories. So why would Optimum whey not be good compared to twinlab or GNC brand for example? Iso pure is actually the best quality whey around, the rest of the wheys are basicly the same shit.

Planet Muscle just recently tested their product with no problems at all. Optimum makes their own protein, one of the few that do. Realize by dry powder isopure is only 3% better than optimum.

I wouldn't trust a company that once cheated on their customers by providing them with off-label products. Even if they have changed since then, thy are still the same pple behind the company.

Optimums Whey protein is the best i've ever used. It tastes great and doesn't tear my guts up. I tried a blend from ProteinFactory.com. It both tasted bad and gave me horrible stomach aches. . . .

hey omanoman..what is the exp date on your optimum? mine tastes good and is jan 2004...but the only difference i noticed was the thinner rather than thicker taste? agree?

I've tried a number of different brand and protein powders and Optimum Nutrition's whey is on top of the list, imo. Their powder is of great quality and does actually mix instantly with no chunks of protein left.
It also tastes pretty good when mixed with water. I would recommend this protein to anyone.

I just finished 2 bottles of their pro Complex vanilla and liked it a lot. 55 grams of multi species protein in 2 scoops. dpsnutrition.com

i have 10lbs of optimum whey vanilla ice cream flavor and its the worst protein i've ever had by far. i like myoplex and metrix. nothing compares to those to in my opinion

well thats probably because both myoplex and metrx have carbs in most of their proteins. so you are really comparing 2 different things.

I used to use Optimum Nutrition's whey as well. Tastes decent, mixes easily and is cheap. However, I've switched over to Vitamin World's Value Whey. It tastes a bit better then Optimum Nutrition and is a bit thicker and more creamy. Has about the same nutrient profile too. Actually its a blatant knock off, but with my discount card I get it for 20bucks/5 lbs so its a few bucks cheaper.

Haz, you really trust vitamin world? i'm not starting a flame, i'm just skeptical of their products ever since i used one of the ephedrine products that just wasn't as strong as they stated!
try to convince me pleasec cuz their prices aren't bad when i'm in a jam

I don't exactly trust them 100%, but how can they screw up whey protein? The FDA makes certain that they meet their label claims cause its a food product right? So if they say it has 20 grams of protein per serving, I'm pretty sure it does. I've also used their creatine, and it seemed to work as good as any other creatine.

I'm not sure which fat burner you used, but I've bought X-treme trim from them for dirt cheap (156 capsules for 20 bucks). It gets me just as wired as Xenadrine for a fraction of the cost.

But these are the only things I've tried from them, so I don't know if the other stuff they sell is legit or not.

Fellow forumers, actually all supplement company DO NOT have factories or research scientist, these company requested companies like proteinfactory to bottled their goodies, Companies like Avonmore & waterford processed dairy products into cheese, isolate protein and many others, these company are worth multi billion dollars, and employed hundreds of scientist and thousands of workers, if you think that supplement company could afford to employ scientist, then you're sadly naive.
BTW avonmore & waterford was bought over by Saputo of canada, their food department actually.

Guys, one person imparticular who has looked at recent testings of Optimums protein is a mod here, Stew Meat. His opinion of the stuff is that it is garbage. I wish he was still around so he could post up some test results and such.

Optimum produces their own stuff. The FDA came into their chicago facility last week. This is where they make their protein at. Just because the FDA doesn't regulate the industry doesn't mean some of the factories aren't up for regulation. They passed all test issued. Planet Muscle says their stuff is good (according to analysis they had done), which is good enough for me. I haven't seen a single person on here yet show proof that their stuff is bad.

No, actually I dont think the FDA regulates any of this stuff at all. Technically, I think you could put out protein powder that doesnt contain anything at all but flour, and you could only get in trouble for false advertisment. The FDA I dont think has anything to do with supplements at all, unless they are harmful. Not sure though, anyone comment?
