Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey, any good?

I usually use Kaizen, and have been happy with the taste and quality...but I see my local store has the Optimum on sale...is it any good? :alien:

My friend let me taste some chocolate mint he made with skim milk. It tasted awesome. I dunno how good the quality is though.

The taste isn't that great, but I've gotten over it. I have the vanilla. It mixes very well. I usually use N-Large, but I got the optimum stuff on sale as well. I like it, it doesn't leave me feeling bloated, and I use a double dose everytime.

I have a 5 pound tub of Optimum 100% whey in chocolate, and it rocks. I've seen better results with it than with NitroTech for half the price and better flavor. Mix it with skim milk if yer not on CKD and it tastes awesome, just like chocolate milk.

Buy optimum natural if you can. Regular optimum whey tastes fine, but has that normal chemical protein taste.

Mix up 2 scoops of natural, a cup of skim milk, a half cup of oatmeal, and 2 tbsb of peanut butter and you have something that's desert calibur!

I usually drink vanilla optium with Orange Juice. Would that be bad in any ways? It tastes great though and the protein pieces makes you think it's pulp. :D

I used do do that with all my vanilla protein shakes, kinda makes it taste like an orange smoothie...I liked it...

the 100% whey is ok for a whey concentrate, I think it is better tasting than the Kaizen (but I think that the Kaizen stuff tastes like crap)...Optimum's Pro-Complex is a bit better quality IMHO though it is a bit more.

Really? I love the taste of Kaizen....especially they're Strawberry Banana...:fro:

that's why taste is such a difficult measurement for anything - it is very subjective. I must admit, however, that it has been a couple years since I've tried Kaizen's stuff...they didn't even have Strawberry Banana last time I bought it. :)

To figure out what value your protein has take the amount of protein per serving and divide it by the serving size on the label. Next multiply that number by 100 and you have your protein percentage.

For example Optimum 100% Whey contains 22 grams of protein per a serving size of 28.4 grams. Take 22 and divide it by 28.4 which gives you .77 and now multiply by 100 to give your the percentage which is 77% ( 22/28.4 = .77 x 100 = 77% ).

Now in my opinion 77% is not that great, but better than Designer/W Glycerlean @ about 72 %. I personaly like 85% and above, they are out there.

I just bought a tub of Optimum 100% Whey Vanilla, cant wait to crack it open but I'm not quite done with the chocolate. BTW, the chocolate with milk tastes exactly like regular chocolate milk, so gooood.

I bought the chocolate. It tastes pretty good. Make sure you use a blender, otherwise it gets clumpy. The best value protein powder I've bought so far.

Chocolate optimum is good stuff. Someone on here posted indy test results of it a while ago and it came out shining.

optimum vanila has a really strong chemical taste, whereas the chocolate is very very good :D

I bought the Vanilla and it doesn't taste good at all. It tastes fine as long as you mix it with some OJ. I'll have to try the chocolate next time with milk. At least it isn't expensive like the nitro-crap.

I absolutely love this stuff. I've tried a lot of powders but none compare to 100% Whey IMO, especially when it comes to taste. I get the 10lb chocolate bags of this stuff which has 160 servings at 22g of protein per serving. I normally use 2 scoops at a time which takes up 2 servings but still this giant bag lasts me quite a while before I need to get some more.

thats why taste is of no concern to me. I would shovel down handfuls of horse dung after a workout if it could make me feel as rejuvinated ....
in other words it works
