opinions on men paying more for car insurance

i pay a lot more than women do for car insurance. this is standard in ontario, and maybe the rest of Canada. USA, im not too sure. what does everyone here think about that? does it offend some of you, or do you think it's just? what about human rights? peace.

It pisses me off.

Just another case of groups taking precendence over the individual. Ok, males of age 18-24 are more likely to drive recklessly than females of the same group - so fucking what? Why not charge me for insurance based on my driving history, criminal record, school grades, etc?

Hey, members of "Group B" are more likely to commit crimes, so why don't we throw all members of "Group B" into prison? Maybe because not all members of "Group B" are criminals, perhaps?

It's understandable. I'm in the U.S. and it's the same way. Although it sucks to be generalized, statistics don't lie. Younger men drive faster, and more wrecklessly than young women... and this is apparent because of the higher rate of accidents between the two groups. This is why insurance drops when you are 25. Statistically, accidents are fewer after this age, therefore your rate drops. I'm 25, and I know I don't drive the way I did when I was 17... that's for damn sure.

some thoughts to add:

why not charge more for car insurance to people of different races / religions based on their statistics of driving records?

Hmmm, it sucks to be generalized BUT women pay more for just about everything else and we make less $$$$. We pay more for dry cleaning, haircuts, clothing, etc.... It all adds up.

In your defense, I think your insurance shoud be based more on your driving record and not your gender.

its not like women specifically pay more for haircuts tho, its just the type of haircuts they get generally cost more because they require more work. anyway, i agree. im out of karma for the day. peace

Right. Women definitely wouldn't have a problem with haircut prices if all they said was: Just a little off the top."

So, if one dude drives a Sports car in Miami -
and another dude drives a Minivan in BFE -

Both should pay the same rate if thier driving records are the same?

Even though logically and statistically the dude in Miami has a 10 fold higher chance of filing a claim due to an accident or theft. ?

Wake up and smell the reality brewing people.....
