As yall know I get up at about 3:30AM to open my gym by 4:45AM (every other week that means my kids have to come with me). I just got order from my superiors that if a member of the training staff is not in with me (by 5AM THE LATEST) I am to report them. The offending party will be reprimanded and eventually dismissed I am sure and the PT manager who gets paid waaaaaay more than their staff will experience SERIOUS economic rammifications as a result. I nailed their sorry ass doing something that would have meant IMMEDIATE dismissal for any member of his staff.

I dont like the fact that corporate is in essence using me to be the "watchdog" because I am the only one that opens up M-F and I am NEVER late - shit I even came to work on my way to the fucking hospital when I was in such bad shape they kept me for 8 days LOL. It will be obvious who sold the offending part(ies) out.

What would you guys do? I HATE having to sell peeps out, but then again this shit job is how I take care of us for now.
 
i would warn them, but be subtle. make your position clear without taking sides. then you can say to your superiors taht you were trying to improve a weak link, and to your coworker that you looked out for them. i hate work politics.

Here is what you do, it always works for me. Just pull the little tart aside an be all like "Listen babe, you're late! If I wanted to, I could have you fired!

But instead, how would you like to sleep an extra hour every morning? That would be nice, wouldn't it? Yeah, I know you'd like that. Well I could do that for you, just depends on how appreciative you would actually be. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about girl...."

Then just start groping her and stuff. Works every time

HEheheehheee you guys are sillies!

A different member of the training staff is responsible to open AND close the gym - NOT THE FRONT DESK... but in the AM it is ME. I don't mind opening so much but if MY LITTLE KIDS can get up and not hinder me coming to work on time, then what the fuck excuse does some dopey kid with no REAL bills or responsibilities have to be late?

I just dont like to have to sell people for being fucking irresponsible. I am NOT a manager - that is a managerial gig.

As part of membership everyone is entitle to a certain number of FREE PT sessions. The pt's are NOT allowed to cancel non-paid sessions to fill with PAID sessions (unless of course, the nonpaying member is so inclined to accept).

The new PT manager (who gets paid a waaaaaay more than the staff PT's) did just that and the dumb bastard wasn't smart enough to inform the nonpaying member of the change to HER schedule. So now, here I am, the front desk with egg on my face in front of A NEW GYM MEMBER trying to explain how such a screw up could have occured. Caused bigtime grief on my part and left a bad taste in a new member's mouth about the gym. Not to mention that had a staff member done that, it would have been grounds for IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL.

Managers get paid more because their responsibilities are greater. Cool.

To fucking do shit yourself that you threaten to fire your staff for. NOT COOL.


And no, this is not a corporate fitness center but a privately run chain of gyms.

I would inform my coworkers of the new policy and follow that policy. I may be able to bend for a few minutes once in a while. Like say as I'm dialing the phone the person walks in, I'm hanging up.

Werd I think you are trying to be too much to too many people. These people are coworkers who know the consequences of their actions. Remind them what they are and proceed as ordered.

What you're describing is called working for a living. As long as your co-workers know the rules, they have no reason to be mad at you (or anyone else) for enforcing them.

That means you shouldn't be down on yourself about it, either.

(Now, if the boss told you "fire the third employee who walks through the door, whoever it is" that would be insane, like working for Blofeld in a James Bond movie -- there's no excuse for that. See the difference?)

its work. you do what you gotta do... if it wasn't work it be called super-happy-fun-time which it obviously isn't.
