Opinion on diet

My girl friends parents are on this diet. To me, it seems this wouldnt work at all. What they do is eat all the meat they want, eat salad, drink grape fruit and water but at only certain hours of the day. Sounds like a bunch of B.S to me, but here is the catch. In 4 weeks her dad has lost 18lb and her mom has lost 6. What gives?
 
You can lose weight on just about any "diet". The issue is keeping it off. Most of these "diets" aren't long term approaches, so they are doomed to failure in the long run.

I mean really, how long can you handle eating grapefruit at specific times of the day? What if you miss a scheduled eating? Oh no!
