I remember reading something about how during one of these "humanitarian" or "police" actions like Libya, we can't target the foreign leader but we can declare him or the area he is in a "target of opportunity".

I'll admit I don't remember the details vividly, but it's something like that.

Well, the law was passed because the CIA failed in an assassination attempt of some African dictator in the 1970's....

Considering U.S. effectiveness at targeting people legally authorized to kill, Saddam during Iraqi Freedom and Osama...I'm pretty sure Gaddafi isn't in imminent danger. We kill a lot of low level functionaries, along with their families (including children), with predator strikes but never seem to get the big fish.

Let's say we kill gaddafi this afternoon. Who's going to install a government? Who would even vie for the job? He's made a career out of killing political opponents. All his top leaders are his sons. Are we going to support one of them?

I sure would like to hear Barry's comprehensive plan for insuring we didn't just create another Somalia or Afghanistan.
