and where do I get them?

do I have to uninstall IE as well?

opera vs. Mozilla FireFox (they aren't separate).

from waht i've seen of opera, it looks different than other browsers. Firefox looks very similar to IE, without the problems.

i still get the occasional pop-up with mozilla (i have spybot and adware)...overall though good shtie

Firefox is pretty much Mozilla without the HTML editor, e-mail client, and something else but I forgot. Opera is pretty good. I use both Opera and Firefox, and Opera is becoming my favorite. It's just very customizable. Firefox is probably easier to use though, and you might check out Thunderbird for e-mail too, while you are at it. It's alot like Outlook Express, just without all of the security hazards. All the plugins should work with Opera, but some are a bit harder to make work. Not difficult, but you just have to copy a couple files. And Opera comes with Java. Opera will also work with some pages that say they only work with IE, because Opera reports itself as IE as default. Anyways, Firefox will probably be easier if you aren't wanting to dick with stuff.

Moz/firefox is by far the better of the browsers.

Firefox is SOOOO easily customizable, just tweak the config file and voila a whole new looks and feel.

Firefox is Mozilla without the crap.

Opera started charging or pushing ads a while ago; screw that.

I'll give you a shiny new Louisiana Purchase nickel if you can uninstall IE without hosing your Windows beyond repair (that's a, I say, that's a JOKE, son); it's enough of a step forward if you just stop using it.

You *could* remove your user rights to IE. But then you might have to go to cmd mode to browse folders and shit.

I use Opera 90% of the time, and Firefox the other 10% for some fucked up pages that don't render correctly in Opera. Firefox is a great free choice though.

Yeah. I bet everyone on here can see me doing THAT.

Tried them all.
Opera gets my vote, but I'm on dialup, and need the speed. Put them all on your machine and jump around, you'll see what works for you.
Only once in a while do I need IE, for printing USPS labels and stuff.

Opera wins for many reasons, my favourite ones are:

- mouse gestures, once you get used to them your browsing is so much easier and quicker.
- more customisation of security features, you can reject specific cookies
- it just looks cleaner
- magic wand password manager is easier and better than IE's or Mozilla's
- built in popup-stopper is the best
