Open back ?

Alright I am lazy could look it up somewhere but can't think of a better place to ask? Under what conditions or for what purpose, basically why, does one use open back shirt or cut an existing one to make it open back.

Saw a photo of Gene R. right after the 1005 and it was obvious he has open-backed shirt, I even commented on it but I never really thought about if this would be of value to me.

because you can move the collar up or down to change the amount of support you get from the shirt, this is nice to have if you go up or down in weight, or get a lot stronger, the more you move it down the more support you get but also the more weight it takes to touch, and the higher you set the collar the less weight it takes to touch, but also get less support, in my open back karins shirts i can touch 365 with the collar high but with it pulled all the way down, it takes near 500. an open back can be used for all 3 attempts simply by adjusting the collar up or down. plus you can get in and out of them a lot faster and easier.

Huge difference in regards to open and closed back. You can jack up your shirt a lot more and get the most out of it and getting in and out of it is a breeze.

Once you go open back, you'll never go back... that is unless a federation makes you.

You get my drift.

Yes plscott and cham, I get it, really interesting. I have been having a real pisser with my shirts lately--split my karins DD--getting bar to touch or else loosing it down towards my abdomen. Takes more weight to touch than I can lockout sometimes. Just discovered--or at least I mean I just began using in training--boards and am getting the hang of it. Nice to have something new to think about that is clearly addresing one of my weakpoints with a real solution.
