Olympic weight lifters?

*The_West* said:
true. chemically enhanced or not, the amount of weight some of them can press above there head compared to their bodyweight is nothing short of phenomenal.
agreed .. yes they juice .. still amazing what they can do

i would go as far as to say at least 90% of olympic athletes, regardless of what event(s) they compete in use performance enhancing drugs. defienitely the powerlifters. every single one of them.

truth. i would venture to say closer to 95% and that includes the women.

So are shotputters and discus throwers.
errr..no they aren't lol. a powerlifter, by definition, is someone who trains to lift the most amount of weight possible. a shotputter or a discuss thrower would encorporate powerlifting routines into their trainng, but they are no powerlifters. so dont you roll your eyes at me!

of course they do. how much money, advertising revenue, "nation pride" is piled on the athletes success? every one of them will be doing literally whatever they can to improve their chances of winning. performance enhanching drugs are just a tool in the arsenal for these competitors.

Yes they are, as much as weighlifters. It's all about explosive speed/power, unlike powerlifting.

As a former powerlifter, yes, a powerlifter (squat, bench, deadlift) I can definitely say that you don't call weighlifters as powerlifters. Just like you don't call triatlete as swimmers only because you find similarities in their training. Two different sports (the name of the sports).

you're just being silly now. go on then, explain the difference between a "weightlifter" and a powerlifter. i bet if you asked any of these guys and girls that pl at the olympics what their job was, or what they were, their reply would be "im a powerlifter"

NO! lol Thank God at least they know what sport they are into.

Why is it called Olympic Weightlifting? Probably because the sport is called a Weightlifting.
