Okay just so you guys know........

Today......low 40's I think......It was my long run for the week...24.5 miles this week and 30 miles of cycling......
 
I watched a shitload of peeps here in SoCal running this morning.

I can't figure out what the appeal is. Well, I guess I can - it's like anything else, addicting and it sort of self-creates new goals almost daily.

But shit, running is the most boring activity I have ever taken part in. And tough on the ol body too.

i do it to keep the ticker healfy

diet is all you need to reach unfattyness

we're in the low 40's here today as well. . .it's beatiful and sunny. . .and i'm working :(
 
Sounds like somebody is in dire need of a thigh and bootay rubdown. :p
 
GG, I'm about to go knock out about 30 on the bike. Go get more sweaty then we'll shower together...gotta save water...you know, global warming and all. ;).
 
Good job GG! Do you track your training miles? Nike+Run or Garmin Forerunner?
Running is very psychological, once you get to a certain point you almost forget your running.

Good for you. I don't think I will ever run that long in my life. How long does it take you to run that?

Wow!! That is good! Yeah I think the most I have ran is 5 miles and that was in high school. Now I am lucky if I can run 3, but I get bored on the treadmill.
 
I run outside all year ..... I did this run on a treadmill because I was testing the use of gels and food while running...so I wanted the clock and the place to lay the stuff on..Made a huge difference.....BUT anyone can run...you just have to train like anything else.

Yeah definitely have to train. It is usually not my legs that give out, but my lungs first. I know I don't know how to breathe the right way because I always get a sharp pain in my side. That always ends up stopping me. I am not sure I could run outside down here it is too damn humid and hot. I didn't mind running outside when I lived in the midwest.

not me. . .knees are bone-on-bone :(
 
Well almost anyone can run....LOL...Knees like that...Nope you can't run...but I can think of other forms of cardio for you Mr.

Jesus, don't you get bored? That's my biggest thing against cardio is that I just get bored as all hell, perhaps it's my ADD though :rolleyes:
 
I do by the second hour of running....I download new songs....sing out loud...talk to people as they walk by..check out the men...check out the way others run....ANYTHING to keep moving lol....now outside I don't ever get bored

Well I applaud you, that's pretty impressive. Now go sign up for the Boston marathon or something.

When I run that long I usually have to stop to take a dump. If I am stranded on a trail somewhere I go into the woods and use a sock for TP.

So Mrs Longhorn and I refer to long runs as one sock runs.
 
It hurts just reading your post. I used to run a lot until i broke my ankle got shitty treatment by the Government and was left all messed up. now theres no shock absorption, just a thud each time my left foot hits the pavement. Its like having a wooden peg for a lower leg.
