I've never bought any special type.....the one I have I got at Macy's a looooong time ago for about $10 and it works fine.....plus due to the price if it dies, I'll just get a new one...

Hmmm...

See I was told the blade type for one gets to hot and may hurt the coffee, and two can't grind consistent/small enough for certain brew types...

For pre-roasted whole beans use this method.

Keep your whole beans in the freezer, along with your grinder for a least a few hours prior to grinding. Both the beans and the blades will be cold, wont overheat yo beans.

I have both a roaster and a grinder so I dont need to use this method anymore. I buy unroasted beans in 20 to 30lb burlap bags which stay fresh for up to 2 years without need for refrigeration. But as soon as you cook the bean everything changes and you have to be real careful with them to preserve their flavor.

I do the exact sma ething anya.

I was usign whatever the cheapest grinder at wal-mart was, they were working great. But Smurfy bought me a Kitchen-Aid grinder and that thing is awesome. Thanks Smurfy!

Wal Mart has two, a cheap one and one is a little better. Go with the one which is better. It works very well, and has settings to select brew strength for the grinding. 25$-30$
