Ok, I am seriously retarded when it comes to computers!

Ok, I just did something really dumb! Yesterday my computer all of the sudden lost wireless connection. My boyfriend and I tried EVERYTHING (or so we thought), but it kept saying, ''No Wireless Networks found within range...Make sure Wireless switch is on''.
Finally, this morning after he worked on it for a couple hours, and still nothing... We decided to just to a COMPLETE SYSTEM RESTORE, hoping that would get it to work.
Well, once everything on my computer was GONE, it still said no networks found, please make sure wireless switch is 'on'.
So, I just called Sony, and told them what had happened, the lady said the same thing, make sure the 'switch' is on... I told her, I have no idea what switch she's talking about... She told me where it was, and sure enough it was switched to OFF lol I put it to on, and Boom, the wireless came up immediately. :worried: Just lost all of my files for nothing lol :(

I've seriously never seen the little on/off switch. It's on the bottom lower right corner of the laptop. It's itty bitty, and black, along with the rest of the bottom...

So, yeah.. We're both stupid :)

Fitnessgirl it happends to us all sometimes don't sweat it. I liked when my hair was blonde I blaimed everything on being blonde now when I do something dumb I just like dumbass instead of a dumb blonde.
 
i cant believe you didn't back up your files before doing that. its not like the computer locked up and you couldn't get in it. it was just the wireless connection. shit i would have at leased hooked up a rg45 cable from the computer to the network router before wiping out the comp all together.

If I had any important files, I would have saved them. It was mostly just pictures, so not that big of a deal. I still would have rather NOT restored the whole thing, though, if I knew it was just a simple little switch. Oh well, now I know lol

It's not even that it's a "general knowledge" thing, it's the thought process that is kinda scary.

"hmmm....there's a problem with my computer but I have no clue what it is and am admittedly retarded when it comes to computers. Soooooo, why don't I mess around for hours with it myself without asking anyone for help, then just assume there is a major malfunction based on my zero knowledge and do something drastic. Yep, that's the plan."
