i made something in my new kiln.

its a glass bowl. SLIGHTLY lopsided if you saw it in person, but cool anyway. I'm JUST learning how to use this thing, so it was an experiment.

that is cool! how'd you get those squares and dots of color on there?

its layers of glass.
when you fuse glass, you need at least two layers of glass. So for this bowl, i used white on the bottom, then a layer of clear (textured side down, which is why there are tiny bubbles all over), then rectangles of amber places randomly. on top of that, i put rectangles of dark purple, plus purple squares by themselves, and on top of that, i put small squares of white. it all flattens out when you fuse it for 8 hours.

then i melted it all into a mold in the shape of a bowl.

Were you going for an Impressionistic / Picasso styled bowl ?

no, but i'm currently doing a stained glass panel of van gogh's starry night. :)

i just wanted a modern retro look for this. :)

I think you captured it very well.:)

Thank you!
i belong to a fused glass message board and they make super professional stuff that's sandblasted and torched and wax casted and stuff...

so mine is pretty amateurish.

that's pretty cool

can you powdercoat in that oven/kilnwhatever?
