Ohio State vs. Miami

OSU has a good team, but they also had a a comparetivley easy schedule compared to the Canes and some of the other top tens who where beaten. Personally, I think Notre Dame could probably beat OSU. College football is major messed up with all this BCS crap. There will always be room for interpretation on who is #1.

yea

Washington state
Wisconsin
Michigan State
Penn State
Texas Tech
North Western

ALL TOP 25 Ranked teams

All top ranked teams and Purdue was within 7 points of every game they lost. This is such an underrated team that plays in a very tough division. Was it not Tech who beat Texas? Does Texas suck? Ohio State rolled over them. I have said it before and will say it again DEFENSE WINS BALLGAMES.

Ohio State in a low scoring game by 6

im a cane fan, i belive miami is the better team, but when a team has everything stacked against them they can end up beating you. hopefully the canes will play like this is the toughest team they have ever played.

YOU GUYS ARE ALL FULL OF SHIT AND MAURICE "THE BEAST" CLARETT WILL SHOW YOU!!!!! I'M TIRED OF MY BUCKS BEING THE BUTT OF ALL JOKES AND BEING UNDERRATED! AND OUR SCHEDULE??? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME MIAMI HAD TO PLAY IN BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS OR BIG TIME PLACES LIKE THE BIG HOUSE IN MICHIGAN!! THE BIG TEN IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST CONFERENCE IN THE NCAA!! TRESSEL IS THE TRUE COACH OF THE YEAR!!! COKER IS STILL LIVING OFF OF BUTCH DAVIS' RECRUITS!!! WAIT TILL YOU ALL SEE THAT BUCKEYE DEFENSE!! THIS TEAM PLAYS WITH HEART AND ARE NOT SHOW BOATS WITH GOLD TEETH LIKE THEM THUGS FROM CORAL GABLES FLORIDA!!!!

FLEXED 1 MADE VERY GOOD POINTS!!! IF ANYBODY HAS WATCHED THIS TEAM THE WHOLE YEAR, THEY'D UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS TEAM IS ABOUT!!!

well, on paper, Miami is 2 TD's better, but that's why tehy play the game. Bowl games are wacky because teams get rusty from all the time between games.

Miami has had trhe bullseye on them all year long. Week after week they have delivered. I expect this to be no different.

BTW I have tickets to teh Fiesta Bowl..

Shades sums it up nobody knows that most of the teams they played where ranked. Look at the rankings my friend throughout the year not just at the end. Miami is so overated its not even funny. As where ND, V TECH ETC. You all forget the toughest conference is the one Ohio State plays in. Look at the Alamo Bowl Wisconsin is playing up to ranked Colorado. Iowa State I feel is another ranked team that is overated and has played nobody. anybody who follows ohio state football and has seen the game they play knows the truth. check the defense and check how many points where scored against them. ya'll continue to beat your chests but once again the gay guy will get it write. check my past posts. (lol)

Hiuck those tickets where $ 1,400 to sit way up in the endzone as I was gonna take Chris but even for them i will not pay that. I am jealous.

I dont think the University of Texas is worth a shit so dont try and buy some points on that one..Yeah Tech was the Best Texas football team this year...beat the TU hippies and the Aggies

I have no Respect for Wisconsin, Penn State, NW or MS

the only team on that list I would some respect for would be Washington state

Maybe you should turn on the Alamo bowl ( oppps we agree here) . Texas is and was a good team just not a top 5 team. Tech got BLOWN OUT by Ohio State and I agree with you on all but Penn State as they where a top 15 team. Miami beat VA TECH ( over rated) and almost lost to Florida State who else did they play?

OK lets break this down a little.

Ohio State:
Northwestern ranked 0 weeks.
Texas Tech ranked 1 week.
Michigan State ranked 2 weeks.
Wisconson ranked 6 weeks.
Penn State ranked all 15 weeks.
Washington St ranked all 15 weeks.
Kent St ranked 0 weeks.
Cincinnati ranked 0 weeks.
Indiana ranked 0 weeks.
San Jose St ranked 0 weeks.
Minnesota ranked 2 weeks.
Purdue ranked 0 weeks.
Illinios ranked 0 weeks.
Michigan ranked all 15 weeks.
Total weeks: 56

Miami:
Tennessee ranked 8 weeks.
Florida ranked all 15 weeks.
Virginia Tech ranked all 15 weeks.
Florida State ranked all 15 weeks.
Pittsburg ranked 6 weeks.
West Virginia ranked 3 weeks.
Flordia A&M ranked 0 weeks.
Temple ranked 0 weeks.
Syracuse ranked 0 weeks.
Rutgers ranked 0 weeks.
Boston College ranked 0 weeks.
Conneticut ranked 0 weeks.
Total Weeks: 62

Miami SOS: 0.76
Ohio State SOS: 0.80

Oh and here are the Computer Ratings that rank conference strength:
CONFERENCE CENTRAL MEAN SIMPLE AVERAGE TEAMS
1 PAC-10 (A) = 80.33 80.49 ( 1) 10
2 SOUTHEASTERN (A) = 79.78 78.97 ( 2) 12
3 BIG 12 (A) = 79.38 78.44 ( 3) 12
4 BIG EAST (A) = 77.40 76.32 ( 5) 8
5 ATLANTIC COAST (A) = 76.93 76.37 ( 4) 9
6 BIG TEN (A) = 76.12 76.00 ( 6) 11
7 MOUNTAIN WEST (A) = 66.79 67.21 ( 7) 8
8 I-A INDEPENDENTS (A) = 65.52 66.54 ( 8) 6
9 CONFERENCE USA (A) = 65.23 64.28 ( 9) 10
10 MID-AMERICAN (A) = 63.56 62.94 ( 10) 14

So it looks like you were blowing a lot of smoke. The Big Ten is the 6th Toughest Conference. Jeez the ACC beat yall. Miami had a harder schedule. Miami played teams that were ranked longer. So cool it and just chill man. I am not even a Miami fan. I am an Auburn fan.

Shades :fro:

Your all big talk now ( lots for an Auburn fan do they even play sports) (joke) but we will see who talks Januray 3rd. Blowing smoke guess we will see. Best of luck to you and Miami it will be settled on the turf. hopefully we can agree on DEFENSE wins games and leave it at that.

peace and happy new year

Don't get me wrong, I hope OSU pounds Miami. I'm against these football factories that require players to practice and not worry about going to class.

Flexed 1,

How can you say ND is over rated? They where expected to go less then 500 this year. They one every game but 2. They did not have an easy schedule either.

Ohio State Sucks. The Big 10 is a joke and they didn't even play the best team in their conference, Iowa, who would have slaughtered them. Plus, they got lucky beating Purdue on a fluke 50 yd td catch in the last minute, had to go to overtime to beat a horrible Illinois team, and needed sheer luck to avoid losing to Cincinnati of all teams. What a crock that they are in the title game and they'll get crushed by Miami. They are too slow and their quarterback sucks. If they played in the Big 12, they'd be 7-5. Ohio State Sucks.

They where a hype team becasue of something that should not matter a black coach. he is a great coach and color to me is invisible but thats how they built the pr around this team. yes a good team with no offense.

Maybe you should look at Illnois before saying they where horrible. and iowa beat who??? more hype. that is what seperates all of these " great teams" hype. yes barely beat a very good Purdue team. you could say both teams sucked but before doing so lok at there game scores and schedule. I see the is a very nice bubble of illiusion over college football and it will burst on Jan 3rd. Don't beleive the hype other wise we would all be as big as gregg Kovacs on muscle tech before he left them or they left him. HYPE

Okay how many want to place a wager? If the Canes win I will sleep with a guy if th Buckeyes win you will sleep with a guy. Seems fair and simple. (lol)

flexed1 said:

I agree they did recieve some hype for having a black coach, which I think is total BS as well. However, they have a dominating defense, and their offense began to hit is stride towards the end of the year. You have to rember, this team had to go from being an option oriented football team to a west cost offense. (not an easy transition.) Anyway I still feel their ranking was earned, as teh only team that actually beat them was USC. (Boston College didn't even need to show up to win that one.)

I don't really want to read all the posts and argue and stuff, because I have done it all year. But Miami will win. And it won't be that close. It's not so much who beat who, who did this, when they did this. It's pretty simple. Not only is Miami more talented than OSU, but they are a bad matchup for the buckyeyes. They are a team that scores a lot of points and scores them very fast. OSU simply can't do what won 99% of their games against Miami. It won't work. OSU has had a great year, but they don't really have much of a chance against Miami. This maybe isn't even the best team Miami has played this year. No offense. I promise you will be agreeing with me after the Fiesta Bowl. Or at least see my point.

We shall see Slick we shall see. And edge I agree that ND had an awesome defense and I love defense and that there offonse improved but the whole BCS shit is where the problem lies. If there was a playoff none of us would be having any discusion on anything except who we thought would win. Ohio State or Miami maybe would not be there but if they where they would have eraned everyones respect. if Ohio State does win others will come on and say Miami played bad or Ohio State lucked out and no amtter what I or anybody else do they will not be respected just lucky. That I am afraid is tragic.

OSU already has my respect. Not many teams go undefeated. They have had a great year. If they beat Miami I will be very impressed.

I will be beyond impressed if OSU can beat them....If they can then they deserve the title for beating the best team in college football

YOU DON'T KNOW COLLEGE FOOTBALL FROM THE HOLE IN YOUR ASSHOLE THEN YOU FUCKING COCKSMOKER!!! WHEN OSU WINS THE TITLE, YOU WONT HAVE SHIT TO SAY!!! THE BIG 10 A JOKE???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? OSU, IOWA, PENN ST., MICH, EVEN MINNESOTA THIS YEAR!!! THESE ARE JOKE TEAMS??? YOU'RE FUCKING STUPID!!! NOT TO MENTION PURDUE, WHO LOST ALL THE'RE GAMES BY 7 OR LESS!! OH YEAH, KRENZEL REALLY SUCKS, 148.1 QB RATING, 61.8 PASSING %, 12 TD'S ONLY 5 PICS, YEAH HE'S HORRIBLE!! GOD YOUR STUPID!! PUT DOWN YOUR REMOTE AND KNOW YOUR FACTS BEFORE YOU TALK SHIT BITCH!!!!

OSU is a good team this yeay. That cat Clarett is the real deal. Miami had trouble with the run against West Virginia and Florida State, but I go to go with my boys, the Canes to come through. You got to give the Canes some respect fellas, they have played phenomenal for three years already. They got shafted when FSU played OU in the Orange bowl 2 years ago. I went to that game. Horrible game, the final score was something like 13-6. Miami would've handed OU there ass. Also I think that Dorsey got shafted on the Heisman. Even though I don't think he'll be great in the league, he has proved himself and deserved that trophy. If not, give it to McGahee. Carson Palmer...who the hell is that?

TxArmyGuy said:
Wont even be a Legit Game....Soon as the bucks get a real schedule they wont stand a chance to a great team like the Canes

LMAO...the Canes were 32nd in strength os chedule themselves....both teams shouls play in the sec for a year

...I think it will be MUCH closer than the spread...I might even take Ohio State in this one

My guy has got the spread at Miami-13. Bowl games tend to be close, especially for the national championship. Miami tends to play down to their competition and OSU tends to be involved in a lot of nailbiters, but I wouldn't bet against Miami as they can be very explosive. If they get out to an early lead, I don't think OSU will be able to catch up with their clock control run offense. If it were Miami-15, I think OSU would be a better take.

HMMM BIG 10 UNDEFEATED IN BOWL GAMES AS A CONFERENCE BUT THE CONFERENCE SUCKS. OKAY HERE WE WGO

WISCIONSIN
MINNESOTA
PURUDE ALL BOWL WINNERS.

NEXT UP OHIO STATE AND IOWA STATE THOUGH I HOPE IOWA STATE DOES NOT COVER THE SRPEAD OF 6.5

To all you motherfuckers who where talking out of there ass about OSU I just have one thing to say. Undefeated national Champs Motherfukers. YeEEEEEEHAAAAAA!

Talk, talk, talk. They did, did, did and there is nothing you can say to take away the FACT that The Ohio State University Buckeyes are national champions!

GO BUCKS!

:spin:

I'm not a huge football fan...But... my Ohio ass was up til 2 AM watching all coverage!

BOTH teams played their hearts out!

I am happy for Ohio State. They proved themselves tonight. After an impressive win over Miami, Ohio State proved that they are number one in the country (14-0). How about that impressive defense?

I just wish my Oklahoma Sooners were there. Oh well, there is always the 2003-2004 next season.

I was one who was rooting for Miami.

Great game. OSU's defensive front four played great, causing problems for many aspects of Miami's offensive game. Their linebackers contributed beautifully in helping to stop McGahee. I don't want to sound like I want to downplay a great game played by OSU. But, more than anything, in my opinion, Miami shot themselves in the foot.

Oh yeah...Sean Taylor is a dead man for taking that interception out of the endzone.

The ref that came over from across the field and threw the late flag on the 4th down pass interference; he's on my hit list also.

All in all, Miami had the chance to overcome their own and the referee's mistakes and the didn't. Great game played by a great football team in OSU.

Some of you guy's were right. OSU was a little underrated.

Also, the QB draw play was a great strategy against the Miami defense. Great coaching by Tressel.

My husband is from Ohio so I'm gonna have to hear about this for the rest of the year.

The bad call? watch the fucking call Kayne. And watch it close.

1. 2 hands around the waist of the OS player
2. ref tot he right signal immediately holding. no doubt watch his ahnds.
3. Flag is thrown 4 seconds later. Why i don't know but go back to point 2.
4 NOBODY om MIAMI celebebrated EXCEPT the guy who did the penalty. Did you not find that odd. Does that not send you a signal that EVERYONE knew it was a penalty. Pretty clear call.

Good man..

I agree that the call was questionable... But you'll probably agree that the game was not decided on that play only..

I don't think the canes have ever taken a beating like that before.. Even though there is no statistic for it, the punishment a team takes is a HUGE factor and FORCES a team to make mistakes and commit turnovers. By the fourth quarter, the canes were not the same team.

kayne GET OVER YOURSELF Your team lost GET THE FUCK OVER IT , YOUR EXCUSES ARE TIRED and yes its great to be a mod I stuck the post just like i said earlier ( had MY team lost I would have been a man look it up) . YOU FUCKING LOST. PERIOD END OF CONVERSATION

look at your missed field goal
look at your turnovers
look at being outplayed

Its way to easy for every fucking Miami fan to say blown call but not ONE fucklin MIAMI FAN SAID we got out played. If you truly are into sports your making an ass of yourself and honestly I thought you where above that. My bad.

bottom line MIAMI choked BIG TIME, GOT BEAT AND AS I HAVE SAID IS OVER FUCKING RATED. Stop the fucking crying games over MIAMI IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

ps: for over 10 days i took all the heat of everyone saying how I was wrong but never did i act like a child. had my team lost i would say the same thing i have said since it ended. as a True sports fan if i take my preference out of it by far it was the most exciting game i have ever seen and 2 great teams REGARDLESS of who won fought these hearts out and played like champs. name the last time a "BIG" game led up to what we saw.

just so " certain" people don't feel as though MODS are sticking Ohio State posts i have moved my original post to the recycle bin. Why because i don't want anybody to think I am power playing. And by the way in case you did not know the OHIO STATE BUCKYEYES ARE THE 2002 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS just like Flexed1 said they would be.

EVEN THOUGH MIAMI PLAYED LIKE SHIT, OHIO STATE STILL NEEDED HELP FROM A HORRIBLE CALL IN OVERTIME TO WIN THE GAME!!! THE GAME WAS OVER BEFORE THAT LATE/HORRIBLE CALL!!! PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!

NOONE IS SAYING OHIO STATE GOT OUTPLAYED. I'M SIMPLY SAYING WHAT I HAVE STATED ABOVE AND A HUNDRED OTHER TIMES. READ IT AND WEEP!!!

EVEN THOUGH KAYNE SAYS IT WAS A BAD CALL

EVEN THOUGH KAYNE THINKS THE REFS WON THE GAME FOR OS

EVEN THOUGH KAYNE CAN WRITE IN RED AND I CANT ( BOYFRIENDS SLEEPING HE CAN WRITE IN RED)

The game was definately no decided on one call. In fact, I saw at least 3 or 4 plays where the Miami defenders where hanging on to the OSU wideouts, and no calls where made.

I remeber Miami taking a much worse beating then that. I forget the year, but they played Nebraska in the Orange Bowl (Which is total BS, that is a home game for Miami.) Coming out for the second half, Osborne said that Nebrasks was just going to run the ball, and there was nothing Miami could do about it. I think Nebraska ended up rushing for 300 yards that half. It was total domination.

Here is what I have. Talked to a Supervisor of Officials from a major conference. He said to me the call "never should have been made". Also, he made an interesting point. He said officials will have more pressure calling Miami games next year than any other teams in the country. His feeling is that officials will be so wary of being accused of bias, many of them (especially the shaky ones), will ask out of working Canes games next year. I happen to agree with this assessment, based on the post-game comments I heard across the all lines (media, coaches, officials).
Mel Kiper Jr. himself who was cheering for Ohio St since he has buckeye family felt it was a "chicken call" and thought the game should have ended right there. A lot of others including Beano Cook agreed figuring how the Refs allowed physical contact all game long until then! basically stating no one would have made a big fuss if it wasn't called.

ESPN reporting that back judge Terry Porter who made the " Call " is not new to controversy. The Big 12 Conference, in the past two years, has had to delivery two letters of apology to schools in reference to controversial calls made by Porter. How then was he allowed to work a game of this importance? The Big 12 needs to explain this decision to the NCAA and UM. espn.go.com/ncf/bowls02/s...ecall.html
Ain't that some shit?

The call has been talked to death, but anyone who even wants to debate it, is a moron. You don't make that call, that late, in that situation. Simple as that. If its a first down call, you live with it, but on 4th down, the call DID DECIDE the National Championship. That's unacceptable. That's not me talking (although I agree with the assessment), that's the comments of two major college Head Coaches AND the Supervisor of Officials I am talking about. That's heavy for these guys to be so open.

OU wins their first NC in god knows how long but nobody will talk about how they beat miami, all anybody will talk about is how the refs gave it to them. Its funny, miami loses, but they still win. Nobody outside of Columbus is going to really embrace the Buckeyes as the true NC.

Also, I just watched the hit on McGahee with 11 minutes or so left in the fourth quarter. Right after the hit, Will Allen gets up and twice makes throat slash gestures for all to see. Besides being a schmuck with McGahee clearly hurt, how is that not a personal foul? Even in the NFL which allows more demonstrative behavior, a throat slash is an automatic 15-yd penalty for unsportsmanlike behavior. Guess what that 15 yards and first down would have meant for us down 17-14 at the time. We'll never know and while I think calls went both ways during the game, it only underscores how the refs were letting everyone play all night long and trying not to decide the game and THAT IS WHY THE CALL MATTERS--BECAUSE THEY MADE A CALL WHEN ALL NIGHT LONG THEY DIDN'T. NO OFFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE ON JENKINS, NO HOLDING ON JENNINGS, NO PERSONAL FOULS OF WILL ALLEN OR WILL SMITH, ETC. Just one call- pass interference by a ref who was further away from another ref who signaled incomplete at one of the most critical times of any college football game.

THE REFS DID FUCK UP!! BUT THERE WAS STILL A FOUL. THE ORIGINAL REF CALLED DEFENSIVE HOLDING, WHICH THERE WAS. I DONT KNOW WHERE THEY GOT INTERFERENCE FROM. BOTTOM LINE, I DONT CARE. THE REFS MISSED MANY CALLS ON MIAMI AND I THINK THATS BULLSHIT, SO THEY OWED THE BUCKS ANYWAY. AND I HOPE ALL YOU MIAMI FANS ARE PISSED!! I DONT CARE!! BOTTOM LINE... OHIO STATE, 14-0, NATIONAL CHAMPS, AND THERE AINT A FUCKING THING ANYBODY CAN DO ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it too early to call the Bucks in 2004?

They were damn impressive against U-Dub.

I don't think Ohio State can contend this year without Clarett. It looks like he's out for the year. Bad news and pretty disappointing.

they have a very tough schedule. clarrett equals head case they don't need him. would love to see them vs texas

Forget Clarrett..

O-state has backs as good as him.

Everybody and their mother questioned Ohio State's O w/out Clarrett.. Can they pass? Can they run? Is Krenzyl anything other than a blue-collar QB?'

They are TOUGH.... On both sides of the ball..

I'd like to see them against Texas, AND OU as well...

Boy oh boy... is this year's O-state, Michigan game going to be good...

I think that if he's gone that will be a good thing. most of the distractions will be gone allowing them to focus on football.

And a bad thing, because the only offense they have (aside from last week's aberration with Krenzel) isn't playing for them anymore.
