Argentina already lost today ,their boot is dreadful and their captain is injured, they will have to go all out against Ireland to stand a chance (btw thanks for backin us limey he he)

NZ will reign supreme and finally capture the Webb Ellis that they have deserved for a long time.
Australia will be ready for England in the semis and will see them off.
Johnny Wilkinson will be injured against South Africa and will have to be nursed through.....effectively limiting and eventually ending England's chances.
France will do well until they face their first big pack , who they will likely beat but then be so hurt that they are hammered in the follwing match. Predict quarters/semis for them.
Ireland will do well up until they face Australia , a lot depends on Keith Wood , if Woody is on form , they could re light the bonfires of passion and send down the Aussies... but Australia will still go thru and would win the second encounter (probably Wood would be injusred in the first effort). I predict the semis for us.
Wales.... touch and go there gave ENgland a little start and showed what a little passion can do , hope they get out of their group.
Scotland... not a hope (sorry lads) , even though you beat an understrength SA , you are incredibly disorganised.
South Africa..... all the heat is off them , they are in a total mess psychologically , so they have nothing to lose...... very dangerous indeed , expect them to absolutely go crazy against England where a nice little grudge is developing , semis or a final is possible and maybe even a toppling depending on NZ holding their bottle.

Right now , Oz is on top.

Yes! and it actually has teams from more than one country in it (I know this will shock you yanks with all your 'world' series'), It's the third biggest sport in the world.

Yes, I believe that you have a similar game in the States which you boys copied , what did you call it ? "Chequers" or something , it couldnt possibly be "football" though since thats obviously a game played with a person's feet and a spherical object of some sort. Funny little people the Yanks....

Be nice or we will move you up on the list of countries we are gonna Liberate..

Speaking of fotball ManDink, Did you watch the US Womens FIFA WC loss ?
I think our girls were all on their Periods or something during that game..

It's "Checkers" and we play "Football" - a real mans sport. Not some nancyboy game like Soccer or Rugby.

No Bro , missed it although I do have tremenous respect for some U.S. female soccer players , one of them plays in my company in Germany and she's not too bad looking ,aggressive and skillful. All qualities which I've never seen in a female player from my country. I think it's a tremendous shame that the U.S. doesn't pour resources into soccer to encourage drug - free sport amongst its youngsters.

Yea, the last time I watched American football I was a bit concerned that they didn't have enough padding, if they're not careful one of them might feel a tackle one of these days.

Hmmmm , I always thought the Amercian bastardisation of the game was full of gentlemen wearing things called "pads" and "helmets" , do they also carry hankerchiefs to blow their noses in case they get the sniffles durin a game? Let me guess now , they probably take little breaks throughout the game too in case they need to sit down or something...

Ah yes , sounds like a real game for "men" he he he

Since Soccer does not work for TV, its popularity among the youth of america is not realized because that does not make anyone any money...

Soccer is the #1 fastest growing sport among school age kids in the US..

Womens Soccer is the only Female sport I can watch because they are as exciting as their Male counterparts in speed, skill and aggressiveness..

My Daugher is a Huge Mia Hamm fan...

fuck yes. rugby world cup is finally on.

australia v argintinia. really i dont think there was a whole lot of doubt from the start. the pumas really didnt even seemt o want to be on the field let alone look like they might win.

joe roff coming back into the wallabies side is possibly the greatest thing ever. sailor is still dissapointing me, buuuuuut i think that people a) expect to much of him b) oppositions expect to much of him, hence shut him down before he even gets near the ball, once everyone writes him off he'll come off the bench and destroy everyone.

SA v England next week. i cant wait, ill be there and ill be sure to give you all a write up! (all 3 people on here who appriciate rugby!)

as for my predictions, id love australia to win, but ill belive it when i see them play well against a team that really wnats it. (like the irish, come on keith!) as for the rest, ill just have to wait and see!

One of my fat bastard mates is out there right now, witth tickets to all of England's group matches, both semi-finals, the final and the 3rd 4th play off, best of all it cost him something crazy like ÂŁ400!!!!!!!!! for all that rugby.

Not sure, but if he is running short of bread then he could make a tidy sum just selling the tickets nearer the time of the matches, lucky bastard he is.

my predictions

England,Nz,Aussies,Ireland,SA,France

other then that I dont care to much.

also I was not aware the games were on,I originally thought they started yesterday but went to foxsportsworld and it says it starts the 13th.

anyway life is great it will be a good 6weeks

ha, plenty of people will go out the previous night, get blitzed, have a kebab, then go straight to the pub, I know I will.

I am talking to a guy I hosted this summer as a billet who lives in Scotland now and Murphy is out for ireland,is this true?

Yup he got injured in a club match I think, bummer for Ireland.

thats ok we will still do great

Come the day
And come the hour
Come the power and the glory
We have come to answer
Our country's call...
From the four proud provinces of Ireland

Ireland, Ireland
Together standing tall
Shoulder to shoulder
We'll answer Ireland's call.

From the mighty
Glens of Antrim
From the rugged hills of Galway
From the walls of Limerick
And Dublin Bay
From the four proud provinces of Ireland

Hearts of steel
And heads unbowing
Vowing never to be broken
We will fight, until
We can fight no more...
For the four proud provinces of Ireland.

Im glad we went with this instead of amhran na bhFiann, seems like both sides are working together more and more

No offence to Tuc or FatRat but that tune ripped out the hearts of most Irish fans....Nick Popplewell used to be crying with emotion singing Amhran Na Bhfiann , the French have La Marsellaise , rugby is a game anout passion , fire in the belly , witness the All Blacks and their Haka , that the Aussies might be denied Waltzing Mathilda is an absolute disgrace . I'm sorry but rugby is not a PC game , it should not be commercialized for the masses at the expense of the very thing that makes it most exciting.

I predict that the England team will go in over confident and blow their best chance in like forever. Happens too often........

As Campese said , England have the only truly reliable boot in the game at the moment in Wilkinson , he also has the one of the highest tackle rates of any English player in the last few seasons. This part of his game will have to be curbed if England are to win (and let's face it they have the potential to take it all). England can win , only the All Blacks have more firepower , but they are not the toughest side , only Martin Johnson is there to protect the backs really since Ben Crenshaw left the scene. But I expect him and Dellaglio to play out of their skins since they are both old and know that this is realy their last chance.
Overconfidence is their chief enemy at this stage.... and NZ.

NEW ZEALAND in IMMEDIATE TROUBLE

Tana Umaga , one of the best players in World rugby is almost certainly out with damage to his knee ligaments, bugger! Also Joe Rokoko looks vulnerable to injury being taken off early. However NZ beat the feck outta Italy 70 - 7 so there is some small consolation but to be honest New Zealand have already let a huge advantage slip. England and Australia must sense a chance opening up for them. But they must learn lessons from NZ and protect their most valuable attacking players. esp. England.
Ireland and France also came through reasonably comfortably both scoring well , Woody is doing fine going over for his try , still don't trust Humphries in the big games though.

The France-Fiji match was a great one to watch, those Fijians know how to hit and when a fight broke out they left several French scattered on the floor.

ireland won? ace. i wish i had fox so i got all the games.

umaga and rokoko are such important players for NZ to, but that fella who came on for umaga is, or at least will soon be just as good i think. plus carter had a fuckin blinder.

now i gotta go work out what matches i get to watch on free to air tonight

Wales had a good win and a good performance against Canada this morning. Japan are giving Scotland a great game, it is 15-11 to Scotland with 20 minutes to go.

damn straight...fijians are big bastards...I played against them in a 7's tournament in copenhagen in the summertime. Most of them were around 95 -100kgs.

Doesn't sound like much, but this was a 7's tournament. they were amazing. arrived in a big tribe, set up tents, had women singing with gitars and kids on the sidelines, and after the game they invited us back to their tents and we all got smashed on kava after the match with a great big feed.

that said, top 3 will be australia, nz and uk

i love rugby.

Yo Pete , I see Australia have lost a man in David Giffin , I agree with u about Umaga , but I think he is irreplacable as he is an inspiration to the rest of the team and lifts their game. England are currently wiping the floor with Georgia and more importantly hjave suffered no injuries.

I have England just behind NZ right now on form for the cup with very little between them , why the fuck doesnt Greenwood and Cohen play like that in every match tho?????

Yup, I agree, the performance was good, but not world beating it was a bit scrappy for my tastes. One of the problems we have is that when we start doing well everyone out there wants to score tries and we throw it around uneccasarily and not enough of the forwards hit the rucks and malls. Robinson didn't set the world on fire, but I suppose if he gets marked tightly it will leave space for everyone else, Tindall was impressive, but the forwards weren't as dominant as they need to be if they want to dominate the better teams.

A few things I've noticed are that offence seems to be dominating this time unlike last time where teams were focussed on defence. Also the lesser teams are putting on some good displays, Japan nearly beat Scotland today, and all the smaller teams (Fiji, Japan, Romania etc.) are increadibly physical and are on a par with the best when it comes to putting hte hits in.

Matt Dawson and Kyron Bracken injured! Holyt fuck will Wilkinson be under the cosh against SA now ! You would naturally throw in Austin Healey in there to prevent Wilkinson being exposed unless absolutely neccessary but he's in trouble too with a calf strain (actually I think the guy is the most injury prone player in rugby history outside of Simon Geoghan). This is mad stuff altoghter! I told ya boys , the (big) side that comes through the groups with the leadt injuries will be in a very very strong position , only France are really in the dirving seat from that perspective but I still can't take them too seriously (yet).

Tuc and Dutchie , a quick question for you both , what is your opinion of guys like Dallaglio who were caught using roids? You may remember that he lost the England captaincy for a while and was out of the shirt for a while , he's a tremendous player no question though. I do not rate Jason Robinson that highly , he can be great and dynamic in a set piece but he is not aconsistent performer like many of the others , a bit too much of the Beckhams (how the fuck is that guy captain material?)about him for my liking.

Was Dalligalo caught for roids?, I thought it was because he admitted to using party drugs when he was younger.

I support Sale and watch them plenty and Robinson makes them a completely different team, he is one of the few players in the world who can score from nothing, but lately he gets marked to death so does less flashy stuff himself, but it creates space for everyone else. Imo him O'driscoll and carlos spencer are the only rugby geniuses playing at the moment, what do you think?

Spencer is unreal , O Driscoll is ok , but doesn't get the neccessary cover or protection from the forwards that he requires to find the space.
Dallaglio was caught when a scumbag newspaper (I forget the one) got some girl to fuck him and talk about his roid use...he was done for at the time but has managed to get back into the shirt. He's famous for being able to put on weight quickly before the start of the season , I'm not saying that (almost all) players don't use , I personally know of many who do but when they are caught and let back in ... that's something else.

Damn I never knew that roid use was admitted, I thought that it was just cannibis and extacy. I remember it was some blond slut rom a newspaper that duped him into it.

I knew I shouldnt have read this,I was planning on watching the england game at 2.

Ireland did quite well for themselves I must add.

IrishMobBoss said:

Australia are not the biggest issue for Ireland , Argentina are ,beat them and we're out of our group and into the quarters. Beat Australia and we will likely draw against a team we can beat and get through to the semis. I think we are capable of beating Australia but I'd prefer if we wait until the knockout stages before we throw everything at them.

fiji has a population of less than amillion.

also England vs. SA is closing in, shall we have some predictions?

I'll go first; 38-18 to England.

Fiji are a decent side , if the USA got stuck into rugby they'd be a major power .
The England vs. SA game is a great one cos so much could happen there , I'd call it much closer , say 35 - 33 England.

I agree. The US doesnt have any professional rugby teams (like the NFL).. all the guys have to play on the side- club teams & hold down regular jobs. If US had some (even one) win at the world, it might change like womens soccer did.

England plays great rugby- I think the spread will be at least 10 pts against SA.

The NFL would be shaking in its boots if rugby became popular in the States , no more pads , no more bullshit with sit down , start up plays , just get the fuck on with it cold fury. Too many vested interests there to see rugby making genuine inroads. If you've ever seen a good Springbok side play rugby you'd know why I'm giving them such a start, when they get it right , they're a joy to watch.

ah i just posted a thread about this

25-15 england.

since everyone else seems to be calling for pretty big scores hehe

(tuc, thong or g's? :p haha)

SA'a number 2 just tried to tackle Dallagio whilst he was in full flight. When the guy got back up he had a bloody nose and couldnt walk in a straight line lol.

This is turning into a very tight game.

tuc biscuit said:
we did it, just, a bit unconvincing

They let themselves get rattled.........lot of exchanges of ball too. Considering the quality of SA I think we have to settle for this.

we paniced sometimes and threw it around too much and made some bad descisions, imo the order is now NZ then England and Aus equal second

I agree.........NZ will kick our asses if we play the way we did today against them. Pressure showed we still have weaknesses........will be a few southerners smiling today.

England played great , thought they were hard as nails , very competitive , south Africa wilted after the try. Well done England.

I thought there was a fair bit of rough stuff on both sides but i was impresed that SA didn't go for the cheap shot and hammer Wilkinson's right shoulder.

Im just catching the end of the game now as a replay, looks like a great game. I planned to be up at 8 to watch it all but didnt goto bed until 430.

you boys sure are doing good this year

"I suppose the sign of a good team is to play badly and still win, even against quality opposition." - Tuc

thats exactly what i heard in the kebab shop after the game, soem big hits, i dont think either team was particularlly convincing, but if SA had been able to convert even one of those long range penaltys i think it could have been a VERY differant game.

and yeh, i was closest on the score, PM the bikini pics alread!

no backing out! haha

12-0 to ireland 12 minutes in.

i just came home from samoa V georgia, easy win to samoa. nothing special at all.

...im still waiting for my bikini photos! :p

did Ireland end up winning? I tried to wake up to watch it and I left me tv on incase I woke up maybe by hearing it but I didnt.

Ireland won by a long way. 10 tries I believe they got. It was very wet and there were lots of handling errors. A few silly mistakes were made but they won.........and thats what counts.
