Office Lunch

I'm getting sick and tired of the same 8oz chx, steak etc....green beans...and large salad for my lunch, but it's so easy to pack......let's toss up some ideas for packing a lunch or meals.....Bulking CLEANLY............thinking about adding a 6oz yam and cuttn back on the salad...cause I need the cals.......

I have three meat types that I rotate:
- chicken breast
- fish
- lean ground beef

Maybe you can alternate. Most of my meals look like that or:

a protien shake
a protien shake and an apple (post workout, soon to be with dextrose)
a protien shake and raw rolled oats
a can of tuna on two slices of whole wheat, stone ground bread
A can of tuna with undercooked spaghetti
One of the meat products above

I vary any of the following:

salad with tuna or chicken (with the chix some canned mandarin oranges are tasty)
chili, veggie with meat or chicken
soup
vegetables with chicken or turkey (see my turkey brocoli bake post on muscle food, it's like a casserole)
salmon or tuna patties (from TRader Joe's) with veggies
stuffed peppers (whole pepper stuffed with rice & veggies)
omelets with egg whites & veggies

Ground beef and brown rice mix (can mix in cup and pack).
Beans, Rice, chicken pre-mixed (small ziplock plastic)

How about yams......probably the best low GI carb for a clean bulk, eh? What do you think the top three are? Sweet pots, oats and 100% oarganic rye of spelt bread? Not sure.......couldnt believe how close in GI brown and white rice are......Brown rice is another good carb, but not very filling....plus a 1/2 cup has what, about 40g of carbs?

Top 3 carbs that I'd go for:
Oatmeal
Yams
Beans

BEANS? Cmon X...I'm losing respect......incomplete protein.......

You asked fro the best low-gi carbs, beans are the BEST low-gi carbs. The highest fiber and lowest GI vs. GL content, go look it up JKurz1.

I know they are low in the GI category, but I still dont think they are one of the best.......maybe top 5......brown rice and whole grains gotta come before..........just my opinion...too each his own bra.....

throw down some liquid bcaas with your beans... problem solved.

Beans are lower on the GI scale than brown rice...

Do up an Italian beef stew, just watch the sodium and starches. Or how about baked Perogies (sp) with your choice of stuffing with Yogurt instead of Sour Cream. There are also a lot of Texas Chilli recipes out there - add cocoa, instant coffee, touch of brown sugar - lean beef and add in your oils..

kidney beans, long grain white rice+ shredded cheddar cheese (low fat if you like) in a whole wheat tortilla, I like that one... add spices too if you want.. hot chilli powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, minced garlic.. diced tomatoes even.. lettuce... lots of good combos..

omelette !

eggs (1 yolk for every 3 whites)
+ oatmeal
+ some greens for taste

Topic is Office Food.....dont think we have a range, but I'll be sure to check + it's wayyy too much effort/smell for an office.........unless you are talking make it at home and take it in, which would necessitate microwaving......umm...I'll pass

If you want something easy to prepare and odourless : boiled eggs

If your office has a toaster oven, make quesadillas. Just fold a tortilla in half & add in your mixins like cheese, ff refried beans, save the salsa for later to dip cuz it'll make the tortilla soft.

Are you talking about office food to make in the office, to re heat in the microwave or don't you have a fridge/microwave, etc to heat things?

Thanks for the replies...just talking good, wholesome, easy to prep food to eat in the office...sick of the same ol chicken & salad w/ frozen veggies, etc.......
