Oats PW? New thing.......

Or am I totally in the dark on this............seems like more and more people are using oats in their pw shake and many of them are including a banana as well............forget the science, I want to know if this is yielding decent results.......anyone use?

ive used oats in my PWO meal after the shake but not the shake itself, i opt for mostly simple sugars...i guess the oats if you blended them and had the banana for the sugar could be ok tho

i use the banana and a bit of oats. I definitly feel better, but maybe b/c it just tastes good/placebo effect. It seems there are a lot of studies going on suggesting these.

I leave the oats for my morning shake.. actually, now that you bring it up, I'm leaving out the oats all together this week. A little experiment, I've been gaining weight too fast.. and I don't think it's all muscle :)

Ive used oats + whey protien, as a meal replacement shake.

As for PWO, can't say I have, but thats not to say its not a bad idea. I think it depends on goals/persons metabolism, etc.

If your cutting, maintaining, or going for lean mass only, I think its a pretty good idea.

For the traditional bulk, I think simple carbs is a better idea.

Only thing is I believe the whole idea of simple carbs PWO is because insulin reduces cortisol levels (which as im sure you know skyrocket after exercise, and cortisol leads to muscle loss). My only concern would be that the oats/whey mix doesn't elevate insulin enough to lower cortisol levels.

I dunno if that made sense, it was just a thought. Someone correct me if that statement isn't right.

Too slow for the processes I am trying to address pwo.
I use dextrose/whey myself.

Not saying it's "right" for everyone, but it doesn't harm you if the rest of your diet/training is impeccable for your goals. I know that you know your body JKurz, so you should be able to utilize it and keep an eye on things.

SO what is the consensus if you are training late night and crashing soon after this meal? Does it make a damn bit of difference?

I've tried both ways (high GI and low GI pwo) and have found better results with high GI.
I'm usually a late trainer myself and the high GI method only supports my gains.

So, I'm thinking a concoction of maltx, protein (whey), skim, egg whites, and quick oats blended in a shake may be the PW drink of champs???????? Add some creatine and glut......

I'd not bother w/the other additions to the dex/isolate myself, being that I have my solid food meal of carbs/protein about 1.5 hours after my initial pwo shake.

To each his own however, experiment for sure.

Well bro, I won three cases on Myoplex (new formula), so I figure it's an opportune time, post-workout........we'll see how it flys.........

There is no one rule of how long to wait, no. But seeing as it takes me 15 mins to drink my shake, eating 1/2 hour later is far too soon for me.

I can get my shake down in 5 minutes, but I know put ice in it to slow me down a tad.....no way I could eat 1/2 hour later.....1 hr is a struggle...........more like 1.5........
