Oatmeal Question

According to some sites oatmeal is considdered a moderate GI carb cos it is around 55 on average on the scale. Therefore if I wanted to only eat low Gi carbs (apart from my PW shake) then is oatmeal a no no?

its got a good amount of fiber and its cheap thats why its such a hit. i don't know about the GI index...i've seen that too. what would be a better or carb source lower on the GI index?

How about Quinoa flakes?
I've tried these and made them the way I make my oatmeal. It has an earthy taste but GI wise i think it's lower at 35 (this is for quinoa, dunno if it's different for quinoa flakes but u know how the damn GI scales work lol)

Barley is low too
i'm not sure about the alternatives to oats u get in the healthfood shops like Millet porridge

Oatmeal is a very good source for carbs, low GI - YES !!! Im talking about quaker oats, not the flavored ones - get the can of quaker oats, 1/2 c. of dried oats = 29grams carbs, 1g. sugar - add a couple packets of splenda and mmmmm, take with ala as well. The one thing about oats is that it generally is a slower moving food in your system, it takes a little longer for it to digest but its a very good choice

Oatmeal is the staple of my diet .. the super food of the CENTURY!!! AHHHHHHHH ... hooahhh ahahahahaha . LOL

I saw splenda as a suggestion to add to oatmeal.

Anyone have any other good suggestions of things to add to
oatmeal??

The oatmeal i see in the grocers (supermarkets own brand, quaker oats etc, all have 75+ carb grams per 100g) I usually eat 50g a time so that would be 38+ grams but at my local healthfood shop the sell organic jumbo oats and they only have 60g carbs per 100g. I dunno how and why they're different but then i can save on 8ish grams of carbs :)

Oatmeal is about the perfect carb source, especially when dieting. Long lasting, slow digesting carbs, solid source of fiber, satisfying, and cheap. If you are bulking throw in some PB and some fruit and honey, all will be well in Oatville.
