Oatmeal before bed?

Hey...what about oatmeal right before bed? I'm not really looking to bulk like some...I'd rather keep fairly lean so I usually just down a prot shake, but I was thinking a couple packs of oatmeal along with my shake would give some good slow digesting carbs and fiber to last the through the night. I typically eat a big balanced dinner around 8-9pm, then get to bed around midnight. Would this likely hurt me more in terms of gaining fat?

Not sure if it's the best when trying to stay lean...
stick w/ some lean protein+fiberous veggies...ex: small chicken breast w/ steamed veggies and add 10-15 g fiber like psyllium husk

I'm not opposed to adding a little extra fat that I can work off later, but I'm not going to throw down a pint of ice cream every night before bed :D If it will keep me from going catabolic while I sleep as opposed to prot shake alone, I'll give it a shot.

If you don't want to get to a catabolic mode at the end of the night

you can either eat real food or add flax seed/fish oil to your shake

I tried that Psyllium Husk that Mr. X suggested. It really will add some thickness to your shake and hast to slow down digetstion... It is very filling. That and Flax should really help you out!!!

For

For Fiber I recomend sugar free citrucel. It has a nice orange flavor and makes choc, or vanilla shakes taste alot better. Most CVS, or grocery stores carry it, try it out.
