not seeing gains. why?

We are the worst people to critique ourselves visually. Plus we dont see ourselves as others do. I have put on 100 lbs, and I do not look any bigger. You almost have to keep a visual record, and I outgrew that years ago. If my number\s are going up, I do not trust anything else, especially what I see.
 
I'll mostly just echo what others are saying.

First thing: to build mass your body needs a lot of nutrients. Think about it -- to put on 10lbs of muscle you need to eat many more pounds of that of protein. Also don't forget the multivitamins since muscles aren't pure protein. If you don't get enough nutrients then you are doing a type of overtraining and you can actually start to lose strength -- your body starts to reabsorb some muscles to try to "feed" the muscles you just worked. Anyway, you need to be eating even if you don't think you're hungry: eggs, whey powder, milk, chicken, salmon, etc. and all of the above every day.

Secondly, like someone else said, most of us have a bit of body dysmorphia. That means we're not satisfied with our bodies. Sometimes that warps our perceptions, similar to an anorexic girl who still thinks she's fat. You need to take really good photos and take size measurements.

Thirdly, don't be too greedy. As long as I'm improving in something I'm usually happy. Strength gain is a good thing.

Regarding the shape you're in before, many guys have a lot of muscle mass that is sort of flabby. When you first start working it out, it will sort of tighten up and rebuild getting stronger but not necessarily getting bigger. In other words, the first stage of adaptation is for your existing muscle to just become better quality.

Regarding training, are you working to the point of lactic acid failure? Are you mixing things up and trying muscle confusion? Those work for me. Otherwise, your muscles adapt and stop growing. If I hit the bench at 330lbs I won't grow since I can already do that. But if I get someone to help me do negative reps off of 350lbs I'll grow, or if I switch to a different grip, or incline/decline, or try slow and steady versus explosive movement.

Lastly, it is possible to get bunk juice. Sometimes it is just diluted so that it works a bit, but not as much as you expected. I personally suspect it is common for dealers to draw juice out from the rubber stopper type vials and create half-strength stuff. They use one themselves, take half out of one and put into the empty and then fill both up with oil to dilute it. No one will really be sure enough to accuse them, but they just got free juice for themselves.

Very good points, also as what was said it takes food to feed those extra muscles, now if your strength is going up but not your size you may have type 2 diabetes,there are over 2 million people walking around in america with type 2 diabetes who do even know it, you can acquire a blood glucose monitor at any pharmacy for about $20.00
