Gee, I really was hoping it wasn't another religious thread.

Why is it that people just have to knock other people's religious beliefs when they aren't interfering with anyone else.

Yes, many of the allegories in the bible are based upon pagan allegories. So what? YAWN.

That video, though, made some pretty ridiculous analogies though.

For example, the cross didn't represent the equinox. It was an historical fact that crosses were used for crucifiction at this time. It was not a representation of anything. It was just a fact.

Another ridiculous example was the "son walks on water" and the "sun walks on water" Seems like the author is just trying to find any similarity no matter how tenuous and strained to the point of absurdity.

I don't know which annoys me more, religious zealots who will shove the literal interpretation of the bible down your throat or the non-religious zealots who try to attack a religion by saying the allegories in the bible aren't literal.

Who gives a shit? Everyone just mind their own fucking business unless someone is hurting others in some way and this world would be a better place

But I am of the opinion religion is harmful to everyone. Fact is religion hurts us all and impacts us all.
Those that attain power use their own beliefs to harm others.
I am not bashing Christians. I am questioning their beliefs and offering a different view.
If someone cannot see the inherant problems in a widely believed religious practice stemming from an older on, but edited and modified to suit the needs of those who created the lie...
Crosses were used to kill then? Nice symbol for a "tolerant, loving god."
Sun reflecting upon water seems a bit more likely than a man walking on water doesn't it?
Belief in the bible is strained to the point of absurdity.

No, it isn't. Some people are poisonous and do nasty things and will use anything to rationalize their hatefulness, even religion. Take the religion away, and they are still nasty and hateful people.
