Norton Ghost 2003 cannot clone my hard drive

I needed to add some new hard drives to my system so that I could move the os to a larger one. So I bought two 160 gig hard drives, an external 120 and another 250 gig internal. My origianal 40 gig was getting full.

Well, they are all Western Digital 7200 rpm ide drives. Ghost keeps coming up with an internal inconsistency error. Finally had to take it in to a shop and they are having problems as well.

I am so pissed right now. I have to use my lap top for my work till I get it back in one piece.

I also have to get a raid controller for my ide drives if I want to mirror them. Gets better all the time.

Anyone know of ghost issues with Western Digital drives?

What the fuck is with all the hard drives man? Looking foward to downloading some serious porn?

How many of those new drives did you add to the system? It may have to do with how the BIOS is identifying the drives. I assume you let it autodetect them?

Yep, I let it auto detect and then went through the usual formatting procedures.

I am using them for photography/and my research plus work. Need to have serious back up capability with storage space for working files.

I am going to build a new Xeon dual 2.8 geg with 2 gig mem this summer and transfer most of this hardware over. This isn't nothing. The guy doing the work to help me has 1 system that has 20 scsi drives alone. And his server has something like 50 fiber drives.

I have a dual 1.8ghz Xeon with 1GB for reading email and pornsurfing.

:)

what is the exact error number? Norton has a list of all the errors and what they mean on there site. Or you could always just back up your documents and reinstall windows.

That is the last resort. The guy thinks we won't have to get that extreme. But we are thinking about it. Error 20058 and others like it if I remember correctly or maybe 20038.

How do you like the xeon? I will be doing some heavy duty research and photography!
