Non Racism Thread but......

well most of the history the we learn in school is about white history. So I assume they feel we get enought and don't really need a month.

i dont get this either... i never cared...not ablout black people... jsut about the history itself... if this month was dedicated to memorable football historic moments or something. then maybe i would care more

The fact that the white population has to deploy such tactic to appreciate other minority is a true sign of the deeply embedded roots of racism.
I think this is call 'reverse discrimination' whose form is more subtle, more in the line with the 20th century form of modern racism.
Why would anyone care of there was a black history month? Or a purple or a polka dot? How can you possibly be offended by something like that??

To be honest , It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to myself either. The goal of African Americans is to go to geneaology site on the internet and abroad in America and attempt to trace your history back to your country of origin. African tribes such as Tutsis , Hutus and Zulus, or OGeechee consider themselves just as different as Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, or Vietnamese in an asian sense. But there's no asian history month...

Did I miss something? Do we get a loaf of bread and slice of cheese because it's February?? What axactly is Black history month? Does the government mandate that everybody has to do something particular in February? Really the only thing it means in society is that middle school kids will have to write a report or 2 about Martin Luther King.
