My commonlaw of 6 months daughter who is four sleeps in my bed with my g.f. last night. i am forced to the couch. this makes me crabby. I am now mad. thank you *steps down from soap box*

Always make sure you have a very nice couch.

I know the couch issue. it sucks is leather so i woke up in sweat even though I put a sheet on it. sad thing is i took a benadryl to sleep and got barely any and feel like shit. the kid now kicked me and laughed and called me poopy daddy

I think our lil girl has slept with us once in five year's! She was sick and had a 103 degree fever...I was worried and allowed her in bed with us.

Nope, not something I'd start or allow if it continued!

My couch is almost more comfy than my bed....I just don't like sleeping on it because Bisco (the smallest ferret) has a habit of curling up behind my knees when I sleep and sinking her teeth in at about 3 am in hopes that I'll wake up and play with her. Plus it's hard to sleep with 4 ferrets wrestling in my pillowcase.

Exactly.....Our two kids have never slept in our bed. Not once.

I have friends whose six year old has slept with them every night of his life. That would take the luster off an other wise normal sex life.........

The amounts that ferrets smell is directly correlated to the frequency with which their kennel is cleaned. Unless I've been out of town for a few days, my place never smells "ferrety". My kids get a bath ever 6 months too. One of them always smells like maple syrup. I still haven't figured out why.

Ditto that. It is NOT healthy for the child nor the adults to allow a child to sleep with them.

My little girl crawls into bed with me almost every night. I don't think it's unhealthy, but I sure don't like getting kicked, swatted and pushed all night long :)

I feel bad for the little girl. she never had a dad who cared for her or even saw her as he was too busy doing meth. But punching me in the nuts to wake me up or crying non stop for no reason at 4 years old. hmmmm think she may need counseling

You gotta break them of that habit, and they sleep better in their own bed. My son sleeps in his crib (it's in our room though, even though he has his own), but we're fixing to get him a little toddler bed. Makes me feel better to know he's right there and I can check on him throughout the night.

I/we were always under the assumption that it is emotionally unhealthy for a child to sleep in their parents bed. Good ole Dr. Spock. Right or wrong? I dunno. But I know that I wouldn't get a good nights rest nor would my child when they did sleep in our bed because of being frightened or sick. I also think it is more important to "bond" and interact when they are awake moreso than when they are asleep.

I know that I wouldn't want to have a child wake up at 2,3,4, or 5 am or whenever and see their parents having wild passionate sex.

I doubt anyone has sex with their child in bed with them. If they do, then yes, it's a problem.

But since it's just me and my little girl. I know she sleeps better in my bed and I feel much more capable of protecting her when she's right next to me.

Protecting her from ........... the boogie man?

I live in a state with 3500 registered sex offenders.

Damn there are some fucked up people in this world. Do they pull them out of their beds at night while sleeping too?

Yes. The percentage is small, but it happens.

My daughter was a very sick baby, so when she was little she slept with me, due to the fact that I had to work during the day and my wife worked midnights at the time...this was the only way for me to get at least a couple of hours sleep, plus I was capable of hearing her in case there was a problem....she got used to it and we have not been able to break her of it (we haven't put forth that much of an effort either)...but in all honesty I enjoy her being in bed with me....that is my time for us to cuddle and her to be my little girl, since she is at the age where all she wants to do is run all day. There will be a day that we will start getting her to sleep in her own bed, but she isn't ready yet, nor am I. I don't think it is unhealthy either, but it is a hiccup in the ole' sex life....

Yeah, the sex thing isn't a problem for me, since it's just me and the little one.

I could see it being different if I was married to someone [besides Smalls that is].

I did a search about this subject after reading some replies....... Might interest you to know that there are lots and lots of people that "allow" their children to sleep in the same bed as them. Here are a few links for you......lots of info.

Haha!
I don't think I'd call it a family bed.
Since most Family Bed people are also home schoolers, anti-vaccination, breast-feed-until-they-get-a-PhD type of person.
