couldn't have paid me to be in one, let alone make me pay to be in one

3. i've already dropped by a couple times lol

also i dunno what kind of impression you guy have of frats, all we did was just throw a bunch of parties

2. a few event chairs, then we lost our charter
3. i've stopped by a few different chapters since graduating, getting a bit old for that now

I get that they are probably fun and can throw some fun ass parties, but when you really break it down, it's like buying your way into a social circle. Kinda takes the fun out of it.

My school didn't have frats and partied like fucking psychopaths.
 
Each school is different. Some frats are good at some schools are bad at others. We won Greek Week 18 years in a row. All roid guys and hs athletes. We had 50 guys active in ours while others only had 12-30. We were the shit.
No coke back in those days JH1.
Beer, shots, weed and mushrooms. Last year E was around.

wasn't your college inside a large town (bmore)?
i think that makes a difference, i can't imagine attending a city-college and being in a frat, seems kinda stupid.
but in a town that is dominated by the college, it's a great way to meat a clique.
i was a transfer student and missed the dorm life experience...which is were you establish most of your friends and you network off them.
so i missed that and had to meat peeps on my own.
there was a bunch of kids i went to high school with that hung out...but they only hung out with people from high school. i didn't want to end up like them, going to college and largely only associating with those they knew from hs.
pledging was a great way to meat peeps i otherwise never would have known.

yep. plus my school was small so it was easy to meat people. no doubt it's a great way to meet people and get access to a lot of fun activities.
 
Soild point. It all depends on the school. In NC frats are huge but in NY, they are not as big. It all depends.

I always wanted to start an over 30 frat and call it Old School at my uni. yea just like that movie.

maybe not in NYC but i bet throughout the state their is quite a frat scene.
lotsa colleges upstate new york
 
my frat's motto was
"not for 4 years,but for life"

we changed it to
"not for 4 years,but for 2"

the college shut my frat down due to excessive drug use etc.
plus after about 2 years that frat shit becomes geigh

I am 25. I feel old sometimes since I have friends like string bean. who just smoke and drink and not care about anything. you hang with them and they are more excited about hal_o 3 coming out or 50 cent beer night makes me feel old. getting a job and shit and always working has really beat me down hard core. makes me feel old

superdave, what did you do? just go back to school and rushed a frat?

I wasnt in a frat but like most ppl once you get to know them they are usually good ppl. I guess most frat guys joined a frat as they thought was an easy way to meet ppl or the best way to get laid etc

If I went to grad school and wasnt working a real job id join frat to play some sports, lift some wieghts and being an older bro on campus it is harder then just meeting some 19 year dude at the gym and being his buddy

at UCLA several of the guys who went into the army joined frats, I asked them why, they said they wanted to have a college life at 28 years old and sometimes being older then normal it would have been harder on there own. I agree on that. I will just dress like string bean (aka 14$ shirt and AE and flip flops)

the thing is you really aren't paying for your friends, because it's not like anybody is profiting from the money except possibly nationals. pretty much all the money goes towards the house or the social budget.

on a "blah" day just fuck it and do 3-5 sets of deads and call it a day
