Night Terrors

Tink!

New member
I was just wondering if any of you suffer from or have children that suffer from night terrors??? My daughter has about 2 episodes a week...it is kind of freaky. She started these when her daddy went to iraq. They seem to be getting to be more frequent. She wakes up and can have a conversation with me, she looks and responds to me. Some times she reaches for things. Some times she talks about her daddy dying. SCAREY And she shakes super bad!!!! does any one have any ideas on what causes this, how to stop or prevent them??? Thank you in advance!!!!

how old is she? I imagine if she has some understanding of where her daddy is and what possible consequences could come from that, it would weigh heavily on her little mind. Solution? Bring daddy home.

I had em sporadically before, probably twice in my life, however, those were probably due to physiological reasons (electrolyte imbalance). Your daughter is probably experiencing something psychological.

Don't worry they are only scary to you. True night terrors, you can tell the child about the next day and they don't know what you are talking about. They rarely, if ever, remember them.

No cure has ever been found to cure, or even reduce the frequincy of night terrors. They outgrow them, an actually its just concidence that your busband is gone. They are usually not triggered by tramatic events. Eventually they outgrow them.

they will remember them if for that brief moment in time which their EMG increases physical harm occurs.

Thank you every one for the info and advice

I remember what my uncle told me a long time ago and its the same advice that I told my kids when they talk about nightmares.

I tell them (and he told me) "Don't be afraid of the dark. Be the thing to fear in the dark."

Changes all the perspective.

I used to have these when I was a kid... i don't remember having them and can't remember what it was like, but my parents have told me about how I had them when I was younger.
