Nicotine and Weight Gain

I like tobacco of all forms. I know tobacco decreases your appetite and since its a stimulant, possibly burns more calories than if not. Besides that, does nicotine/tobacco do anything biologically to reduce muscle synthesis?
 
Smoking is so bad in so many ways..... Quit...you'll feel alot better in your training.....

If you are smoking, you aren't serious about bodybuilding. Sorry. I used to be a cancer stick lover too, smoked 2 packs of menthol a day. Even coughing/throwing up blood didn't stop me. Knot in the throat feeling, nope kept smoking. Bodybuilding, and hacking up flem while on the bench, yea that was my que to quit.
 
dont come down on him too hard guys. I just recently quit and to be honest with you the reason i did it was because I have started to care so much about bodybuilding and improving my health. I finally did it. Its great, but i realize that i couldnt do it until I was ready to, I tried to quit before because other people wanted me to and I didnt have any success...but this time I want to and its been very easy actually. I slowly reduced and reduced and reduced until I was only smoking 2 or 3 a day, down from a pack, and then i just quit.;... not to thread jack tho..... No i dont have any info on nicotine reducing protein synthesis.... some have suggested in the past that it can be useful as a nutrition partitioning agent...we had a good thread going awhile ago, maybe a platinum member can post up a link. best of luck
 
Actually surprisingly enough they are doing research to determine whether or not nicotine and caffeine will help with fat-loss. Many studies are showing that it will...However, as a past smoker i have to say that the benefits will not outweigh the consequences...but it is surprising that they will show that it helps....Besides who would want to chew nicotine gum, take caffeine pills just to lose a few extra pounds....That gum is Crappy!!!
 
What about Chewing or dipping in terms of weight gain? I am pretty serious about body building to my ideal structure, thats why i set up this thread I know smoking is bad, plus i only smoke about once a day, but dipping and chewing i could do once or more a day if i knew the effects. I guess i dont want to lose fat because im trying to gain weight.
 
hey if your down to one smoke a day, you probably either have reduced alot, or you just started....in either case I think you are probably almost ready to quit
 
When my weight dropped down to 150lbs at 6ft tall, I knew I had to quit smoking. I quit smoking and started lifting weights, within 2 months I gained 15lbs. Now 2 years later, im at 200lbs....I realize 200lbs isnt shit, but im still proud of myself.
