Niacin, a wise addition to every cycle

Another major side effect of steroid use is poor lipid profile. It is not addressed here so I thought I would add this. A 500mg Time release once a day dose is very helpful to restoring a healthy lipid profile. It raises good cholesterol and lowers bad cholesterol. Its cheap and available at any pharmacy/health food store. This is not addressed here probably because it is a more long-term side effect. but it will catch up with you. Just my .02

Yeah, niacin is some great stuff for improving your lipid profile and I think in the next five years that studies will shed more light on this. I do not recommend the time release stuff though, although niaspan is less harsh- just go for the gusto:mad::mad:

Well for tose who have never taken it, niacin can cause a flushing symptom shortly after taken, it will turn you red and and make you hot but it wears of very quickly. The timed release has not done this to me though, thats why I say go with timed-release

LOL, I was just kidding :mix: thats why I put the red faces there. Time release is definitely the way to go.

I would not take niacin during a cycle. It can cause increases in liver enzymes and may cause hepatotoxicity (damaging the liver cells), hyperuricemia (abnormally high levels of uric acid in the urine), and hyperglycemia (high levels of glucose in the blood).

I would not want to take or drink anything that might put more stress on my liver during a cycle.

Niacin does indeed improve your lipid profile, it also lowers you blood pressure and in my case it helped alot with acne as well. I take 1g three times a day, the regular type the one that gives you the flushing.
The time-release ones however, are known to be liver toxic.
Best form of niacin (also the most expensive) that is also flush-free is Inositol hexa-niacinate (six niacin molecules bound to an inositol molecule, inositol being pretty good stuff on itself).

wow! were you continuing cycle at this time, or had you already stopped?

chronic niacin use in high doses can be liver toxic, definitely go with the no-flush version(Inositol hexa-niacinate ), same results not liver toxic.

lol I thought he said nicotine!!!

Was like cool! My bad smoking habit is actually good for something!! But of course "it aint good for noting"!!!!

you can buy the time-released form at any health food store and the Niaspan is the presecription drug- basically the same thing from what i've been reading..

I wouldnt take niacin time released or not with any oral steroid cycle, due to liver toxcity. Dr. Kolwalski wrote a book on "The Niacin Cure". He explains, that the major drug companies are ripping people off with Lipitore and other statin blockers. People that cant take statin blockers can use niacin to reduce their Chor.levels.but anything above 1000mgs.per day should be monitored with blood profiles. I have high Chor. levels, so I take 500mgs. time-released 2Xper day, but never on a steroid cycle, wait til you are off. You can view his book, on-line. hope this helps.

Surprisingly the time-release version of niacin stresses the liver more than just plain niacin. This is really only an issue if you're taking a lot or already using oral AS.

Niaspan is the same as the niacin you can buy OTC - the main difference is that niaspan is prescribed by a doctor, so insurance will pay for it.
