Who do you guys got winning this round?

West:

Los Angeles vs Vancouver - Vancouver in 5/6
St Louis vs San Jose - San Jose in 7
Chicago vs Phoenix - Chicago in 7
Detroit vs Nashville - Detriot in 7

East:

New York vs Ottawa - New York in 5
Washington vs Boston - Washington in 6
New Jersey vs Flordia - New Jersey in 6
Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh - Philadelphia in 7

Doesn't look like their should be any sweeps this year in the first round - should be an interesting year!!

Thoughts on West:
-I think Van loses a couple because of the Sedins being a tad soft, and Lou not being half the goaltender Quick is
-San Jose via size grinding St Louis down, and more firepower
-Chicago with speed and firepower advantage
-Nashville pulls it off thanks to Radulov and A.Kostistsyn adding the firepower they have sorely needed, Suter/Weber on D, and Rinne being a wall.



East:

Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh in 7


Thoughts on East:
-New York in 5 is assuming Ottawa gets crap goaltending and Lundqvist has his 'A' game. This could go 6 or 7 if Ottawa gets hot goaltending and Lundqvist is only average.
-Washington is a big darkhorse pick...but Ovechkin looks deadly since the allstar break and Backstrom is back. If they get solid goaltending, they can out-gun the Bruins.
-Pittsburgh could easily win that series much more quickly if the Flyers don't keep their penalties down.
-Jersey's big guns should outscore the Panthers' pop-gun offense

I think if philadelphia play's that hit anything in the way hockey they can win - if i was philly's coach id throw up a 100,000 bounty on crosby's head - anything to win eh..

but then again i think a legal hit might rattle him a little bit- but then again malkin is just going off.

i think theirs going to be a lot of upsets for some reason.
 
Thinking Ottawa wil upset the Rangers. Like the Sharks too, and Phoenix will beat Chicago based on goaltending alone.

CBC is carrying the game here. Have you ever heard Bob Cole? You'd appreciate the U.S. announcers more. I think NBC And Versus do a good job.

i think it was on SportsNet that the commentator called it playoff hockey and not suspendable.
All year, anything resembling a headshot was suspended. Even clean hits where there was an inadvertant hit to the head got you a couple of games.

s if it was even possible, the guy that replaced Emerick on Devil's broadcasts is 10x worse....and both guys in Washington are awful...

Sam Rosen is good, the guy that does the Florida games is reslly good (Goldberg, or Goldstein) Jack Edwards in Boston is pretty good although he is a bit of a homer...

And yeah Rinne is bad ass...

Pens finally decided to play hockey and looked pretty good last night.

Nice to see Ottawa sneak a few past Lundqvist to make it a best of 3 series. Great shot by Turris.

Canucks looked like a different team with Daniel Sedin in the line up.


Anyone putting up tonight's games?

I don't know man, seems like a lot of people who have never played the game don't like these hits. Seems like the media and people who never skated in their lives wanna pussy down the game. Much like what they are doing with Football. Used to be a mans sport, now you can't hit in either sport. One of the best, meanest, nastiest defenseman to ever play the game would be kicked out of the league had he played in this day and age. Scott Stevens was the nastiest mother fucker in the playoffs. He would be almost useless nowadays and that's a fucking shame.

I disagree, the difference is that Stevens hit guys cleanly...guys today don't do that....Torres jumped into the check....had he stayed on his skates it woulda been a great check....

But I do agree on the pussification of the league lately..

BTW, I met Scott Stevens @ Ken Daneyko's house and he's not really a huge guy......which made his ability to put guys down that much more impressive

Lol at a discount on tickets. Leafs fans are like Cubs fans. No matter how many years of futility, they still support their team.

Leafs have always sucked. I like the Jays tho. Too bad they don't stand much of a chance in that division.

The issue is there is so many corprate seats for the Leafs those fuckers stopped buying season tickets when the piece of shit team was losing then they would see less people going to games. In most other markets if your team is a losing piece of shit for years on end no one goes to see them except Toronto. I don't know who the MLSE fuckers are giving kick backs to in the NHL to not have another team in the GTA but if that ever did happen I bet the Leafs would have no choice but to lower ticket prices or start winning.

Eh I think the Jays have a chance but I am fuckin Leafs fan so clearly I have more loyality to hometown teams than smarts about sports.

I haven't been able to figure out how to bet, then again I had the Wings and Pens in the final so maybe it's a blessing in disguise...

Torres play was charging and targeting the head, 25 games is pretty stiff. Didn't Chris Simon get 25 games for that slash to Hollwig a few years ago...

Anyone believe the Leafs are getting Luongo next year?

I think the pens still have a chance... The wings just ran into a hot team... I think nashville or st louis is coming out of the west... Its definitely going to be interesting but theres always surprises in the nhl playoffs... I would love to see a pens vs bruins series!

As for Leafs going after Luongo, I've read a lot about Burke wanting to bring him in but until he fixes that pathetic defense I'm not sure it will matter. Also hearing he's gonna go hard after Nash or Parise too.

Getting Luongo will be tough for both teams, do the Leafs have enough to send the other way? Does Vancouver wanna take on a big salary? And if Toronto is willing to give up a player (who will be one of a few players in the deal) with a big salary is it because he's not living up to the contract and then why would the Canucks want that?

Plus it wasn't Luongo's fault that Jonathan Quick made 90 saves in 2 games....and don't forget about the no trade clause...

Schneider's contract expires on July 1st and he's a restricted free agent, does Vancouver get anything if he signs with another team?

Leafs are a bloody mess. They have some good young prospects but that had been the Leafs problem from the day I was born, no patience with prospects, trade them for an aging veteran and we are screwed for years to come. Personally id try and sign Vokoun for cheap and keep our prospects but who knows.

he's been a beast since day 1. the flyers just had the wrong personnel for him. thats why they dumped richards and carter. got fast, finesse players that are young. i've been a fan since 1986 and when everyone was saying the moves they made were rebuilding, i knew it wasn't. i expected the cup this year, but not with bryz. at least not now in my opinion. they will live and die by the goalie and bryz sucks.

i picked the giants to win the super bowl after they lost to the packers. its a feeling. the flyers are on it now. they are clicking. but bryz isn't. so i think they lose somehwere along the way. if the rangers are eliminated i think they are the clear #1 in the east. but like i said, bryz sucks so that leaves them extremely vulnerable.

The seem to get a goalie and give up on him shortly after....they haven't had a regular since Cujo..

BTW, Roenick (that freaking clown) just said on NHL Live that Karlson was the best defenceman during the regular season....is he freakin' insane....they better just give the Norris Trophy to Chara now....

Best offensive defenseman but Overall I'd say Chara or Weber. Not sure where you live but being in Toronto we get no exposure to Weber up here. They are both worthy imo.

We had Belfour after Cujo and he was solid but since then it's been a bloody disgrace.

Ya agreed. When Mike Green got consideration a couple years ago the writing was on the wall. Great offensively but a disaster in his own end.
 
Mike Green lives right by me in the summer. Got to party with him a couple times!
