hey.....

i have just joined a gym and i need as much help as i can get.....if anybody is willing to share their knowledge and has patience please can you let me know? i know very little about weight-training, but i consider myself fairly fit.

thanks,

chris.

just started working out. good call. time to juice NO WAY

read as much as u can in the diet , training, and supplements boards

elite is a great place to learn ! so get your read on!

yeah i understand....

i am willing to read and learn but there is just so much information out there that i am find it hard to work out what strategies are best......such as supplements, there are so many of them, and i don't understand most of the terminology used......it's hard starting out, it's like being swamped by information and not knowing where to look.....

i will check that site out but i'd still appreciate any guidance.

thanks.

Start hitting the weights hard man. Definitely read all you can from these boards, the best supplements:

Protein
Creatine
Glucosamine/Chondroitin

Start counting your calories, you'll see the fastest results of your life the first three months after picking up your first weights. Good Luck!

yeah, like tiger mentioned...just read over some of the boards on this site, especially the diet board, training board, ect.. there is TONS of great knowledge on there... and remember you dont get muscles over nite so it takes hard work and patience. good luck

Stick around the boards bro. Get a subscription to Flex magazine. there are a lot of good training programs and diets in there. Good luck man.

hey, thank you for your responses guys....

i can't take creatine because i am a vegetarian.....so that's a no-no....

i will check the boards out thoroughly and i am considering a subscription to a men's health magazine to pick up more tips.....

my stats are: age 21, height: 6ft, weight: 161 pounds....

thanks again and sorry for the delay in replying

Get a good Whey Protein Isolate and pack in those cals. Your DIET is by far the most important thing in your training as it will determain your results. Just starting out I'd generally stick to basic movements and machines to just start yourself out right. I started out with 6 sets for the small body parts and usually 9-11 sets for the larger ones and all in the 10-12 rep range. Being a vegetarian as you are, you will have to really get those shakes down. Try to consume at least 200grams of protein a day at your body weight of 160. Get your carbs from potatoes, brown rice, whole grain pasta ect...I don't understand why you can't take creatine in the powder form even though you are a vegetarian ? Pm me if you have any questions and I'll do the best I can to help you.

I like to see it when the mods let the new guys know that they can come to them directly if they need help with something. When you're new to lifting and everything that goes with it, you don't know what is bs and what isn't so you pretty much believe anything. At least the info he can get will be legit.

I would hit you with some green, but, "You must spread some Karma around before giving it to MUSTANG_18 again."
