Hi. This summer I plan to build up my arm strength (for punching) and I've read somewhere that if I'm to build up strength (and not muscle mass) I should concentrate lifting heavier weights rather than doing more reps... I'm not sure about that.
I've been doing pushups (regular), knuckle pushups, and I've been doing barbell curls (both underhand and overhand). Does anyone know if there's anything else I should do, or if there's anything I shouldn't do...?

i think you should workout your whole body not just your arms and chest. look at the top of the page under training methods. there are a few good ones there. westside is real good for strength. theres a lot of good info here. stick round and read. welcome to the board.

from my experience in martial arts........ the lats are heavily involved in punching..... look at bruce lee.......... best lat spread interms of v-taper i ever saw. the lats and rear delts and biceps snap the arms back as fast as possible.

what sport are you participating in for punching power. By the way punching power has really nothing to do with your arms is has to do with leg drive hip rotation and snapping you hand over so fast you tear into someone with so much force the crumble underneathe your hand
