Newb asking for guidence...

Let me start off by saying I am impressed with this board and all of the members here. I have bben browsing for a few days and trying to learn a few things.

I am a 32 year old male, 6'1", 175 lbs. As you can see I am slim and would like to bulk up a little to around 190-200lbs, I do not intend on being huge or anything like that, just a little bigger and in shape. Right now I am working out around 3 days a week and do cardio around 3-4 days a week.

Here are some of the problems I want to focus on:

1. Gain weight, its very hard for me to do.
2. Gain strenth.
3. I want the six pack , im slim, but I have that little area of pudge under the belly button that just seems impossible to lose.
4. Raise my self esteem.

Like I said before I work out a little now, but just started. I do take protein, but not sure how much I should take. I also have no clue to how many calories I should get in a day. I work 40 hour weeks, so it kinda hard for me to break my meals up throughout the day, so some pointers there would be nice too.

Thanks guys/gals

I forgot to mention that I need some advice on any supplements that may help and how often I should take them. I know protein is a key, but how much and how often?

Thanks

IMO it is hard and especially in your cause since you work, it will be hard to get your required protein in, so eat as much, as often as you can. If you want to bulk, you can go on what's called a bulking diet, but then you have to decide if you wanna eat clean or just eat all you can. How long have you been lifting? Basic supplements would be Creatine, L-glutamine, and lots of protein powder.....

I have been lifting around a couple of months now. During my work schedule I could probably get 3 meals in, but 2 of the 3 would have to be small because they are only 15 minute breaks, the other is a 45 minute lunch.

How many calories should I eat to get to 190-200lbs? And what are some good high calorie low carb foods?

Thanks

I, like you work a full 40 hour work week and I travel as well. To keep eating throughout the day I eat protien bars. Usually 2-3 a day. I try to pick the ones with less sugar in them due to personal preferences. There are many varieties to chose from, you can take some time and see which appeals to you the most.

You can also get a good MRP, ie. Myoplex, again there are hunderds to chose from and everyone has their preferences. I personally start by raising my calorie intake by about 500 a day, I tend to put on fat very rapidly so your body may be different. Just stick with the working out and eat eat eat......your body will respond. Good luck
