New Wine Bar / Lounge Opening

The new place will be opening by the end of August. It is called LIFE.
It is an upscale wine bar/lounge. We will have all furniture no regular tables and chairs. More laid back and relaxing setting. Main room will hold 120 sitting and 180 standing plus the back VIP Room will have its own theater for about 60 people sitting and 90 standing. We want to show old school movies and shit in the theater. I need some themes for some nights and happy hours.

What do some of the bars, restaurants and lounges by you do?

Sex & The City Night - have the shows playing on the tv's with drink specials for women.

Cuba Night - Cigars and Cards and play Casino

Golf Night - play Happy Gilmore, Cadyshack, etc...

SNL Night - play old Will Ferrill and Chris Farley shows

Gangster Night - play GoodFellas, Bronx Tail, Godfather, etc...

We will have a strick dress code and of course amazing women tending bar.undefined

I hate clubs - they're places where people go to think that they're special that they "got in" and places where the sole intent is suck as much money as possible out each and each idiots that has to be there to be seen.

Remember when the club owners and workers are sucking up to you it's not because they like you it's because they want your $$$$ - and you're the dumb cow to give it to them.


It's like how gym owners/trainers feel about people who join for their "new year's resolutions" - a sucker to make cash off of with the least amount of work possible.
 
I agree. I hate clubs but they make me a ton of money! This is more of a laid back lounge then a club. Smooth jazz playing. Very laid back. Not a sweat box club. Very upscale! High end. $350 for bottles of Goose. $10 for bottle beer. Stuff like that. No bullshit!

It is the cost of going to a good place. It is NY baby not a Factory lunch room. It is NORMAL in NY to pay top dollar to go to a place like this.
Maybe one day you can work as a bar back in one of my places. MAYBE...

Yes Sweety, I live in one of the largest cities in Canada. And no, I've never left the house or ever been to any club. Well once my Mom took me to a book club....

Yonkers, right on the water in the new downtown area. It is fucking amazing here! All built up and getting better! My other 2 places in Westchester are here too. It is sick. Need to check it out one night! Saturday night we have about 800-1000 people between the 2 places already and when this new places opens... WOW!

Take the Metro North Hudson Line. Takes 25 minutes to get to from Grand Central! Walk off the train an you are there! 8 restaurants within 1 block. Very cool area! Stop by...

We paid $500 in Vegas for a 750ml of GG. Well, my friend did. I laughed when they said that. I was dumb enough to spring for the La Grande Damme. Ouch.

will these be recurring theme nights, or are they planned as one-offs for now?
since it's not strictly a wine bar, i assume you'll have a good selection of liquor
(like the goose you mentioned)? what about your selection of beers on tap?
 
I like the 80 night theme!!! GREAT MOVIES! Yea, they will be one-offs. These nights will be on Sun-Wed. Thursday - Saturday will be packed no matter what we do or charge. Just looking to fill the space on off nights with these events and Corp events.
Fully stocked bar with all Top Shelf Liquors. No tap beer. Only bottle.
Small Tapas menu and deserts too. HUGE WINE SELCTION TOO, OF COURSE!
From all over the world. And FEMALES ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!

We used to have F&L in LV playing all the time at World about 7 years ago when I was running that club in NYC. Also 9 1/2 Weeks. Sexy!!!

Are you back? Lunch at the Factory is over??? The .05 raise means shit.

I ran the Promotions for that club and about 12 others. That's how I got into the business. I learned about the management while I was doing the Promotions. It was tough work but I made it happen and now look at me.
Hard work pays off!

"I had my hopes high since it's a great location and atmosphere. But I can't recall the last time I was at a place where the staff was as unattentive as this staff was. My waiter virtually disappeared, and the manager was not concerned as we had to get up several times to ask for our check... really disappointing. "

i don't often go to 'clubs' anymore, although when i do, i go to upscale ones only, but i do often go to expensive restaurants that often have lounges in them.

Obviously, good music is a must, but so is good food and drinks- think creatively.

Have areas that are quieter than others, for people who want to hear eachother vs. people who want to dance.

The Pier View is a VOLUME business. Like I said we have around 800-1000 people on a Saturday. It is more of a Bar. Ya know. It is inside and outside so sometimes the staff gets bogged down. No excuses but the truth! The new place will be more of an Upscale Lounge.

ok. there was only one review and that was it, so that looks pretty bad for a busy place. well, it looks pretty bad for any place, really.

btw- here's a suggestion.
besides good alcohol drinks, you might want to consider having things like good coffee and tea. then you aren't excluding your non drinkers and people who want to go someplace after a date but aren't into "clubs" per se.

But I do get it, the boring masses get all giddy over that stuff
 
Huge Desert section and coffee's and tea's. People can go on a Sunday afternoon and just relax on the water or after dinner at home come down and enjoy. Thanks for the solid 411.

Like I said Thursday - Saturday will be packed no matter what but we want to pull money in on off nights. Sunday - Wednesday.
Creative things work from time to time. We will try a bunch and see what sticks. Corp partes and events will be big for us on these nights. Juts want to try different things and see if the shit sticks. Ya know!

Right there will you both. We re doing those things already. Been doing this for years but it is always good to look outside your normal environment and look for ideas. THANKS FOR ALL OF THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK! Seems like we are going to be doing the right things when we open. Wish you guys would stop by when we open!!!

A friend of mine wanted to open a half midget bar / half normal bar. One side would be midgets and the other would be a normal bar. The middle wall would be 2 way glass so the normal side could look into the midget side. Pretty sick!
