New tools I want to try:

That new Makita 18volt lithium Ion drill. Compact, I felt up the display model yesterday and it's really light + it puts out 450lbs of torque---same as the 18volt Dewalt. PLUS---and a BIG PLUS---the batteries fully charge in 15 minutes! Biggest drawback.......the store sold their last one right before I got there so ill have to wait till later this week.

Not sure how well this thread will go over here but I am sure theres a few tool nuts here as well.

Just bought the 18vlt makita combo pack for $800 canadian (wicked buy)
the pack comes with the drill(with hammer), sawzall, impact driver, flashlight and two batteries. So far I am very happy with this product, it serves me well for my trade as an electrician.

(two thumbs up)

Makita fukin' rocks...as far as tools go. I get them at wholesale, so it's even better, but you cannot beat the quality!! Love em...

I want to get a temperature-controlled soldering station.

i just got an awesome new dremel for christmas. hand held, rechargable. very lightweight.

costco has a pretty nice looking drill for sale i might get though. i can't think of the manufacturer.. its black and green.

I'm slowly buying back tools that were robbed from my shed. I buy them as I need them now. At least I built my house with all the great tools one could want before they were robbed.

I had 2 or 3 Dewalt 18 volt drills. 2 batteries each, Hammer drill option, 1/2 inch drive... Nice. I purchased aanother Dewalt, but frankly, that was a mistake. I shouldn't have paid $200+ for a drill that I use infrequesntly. I was just at Costco and saw a 19 volt for $39. I'm sure it's not Dewalt quality, but would do the job for homeowner doing odds and ends. I definately won't be buying tol tools to replace everything. I'm disgusted with the fact someone else has my shit for pennies on the dollar, most likely.

Congrats on the (future) purhcase. good luck.

Yeah I almost bought this set just to get the drill however convinced myself I don't need that other stuff as I have it in other makes, not as good but for the amount of cutting im doing I prefer to just use corded items. They had an awesome sale on a Rigid 24volt drill, marked down nearly $200.00US. Unfortunetely ill be getting into some akward positions in this new project and the Rigid drill is HUGE and heavy compared to the Makita so I passed on that also.

That sucks Gonelifting!

Just waiting for wife to get ready and we're heading to the LongHorn. Hurry up!

although the rigid also has the litium ion batteries they are way to heavy and a very unbalenced drill. in short they suck ass!
