New / Looking for Help

Hey, I'm new here and just looking for some pointers to get started.
I'm 19 years old, 6'4'', and about 195lbs. It's really hard getting to the gym between work and school so I'm looking to buy some equiptment for home.
I really know nothing about weight lifting so perhaps someone could direct me towards some books or other resources. I mainly want to focus on my upper body - arms, chest, stomach area, etc...
Any help is appreciated..
Thanks!

Well man, if you want to get a full workout it would be best to get to a gym. However, if that's not a possibility, then you should probably start with some basics. Push-ups, dips, pull-ups etc...These, as a starting block, tend to develop some good muscle when done at the right amount. Try that for 2-4 weeks, along with focus on your diet and that's a start. If you want to add some size then you most definitely need to put some work into your diet. It would help if I knew what that was like and what your overall goal is?

Thanks for the response.
I'll be able to get to a gym in May once school is done and I'm finished up with some other things that are consuming my time, but I'd like to do what I can right now so I don't waste any time before then.
As far as my diet goes, I can make it whatever it needs to be. I lost 45 pounds last year just by cutting out junk food and pop, so I'm more or less at a size that I'm happy with, only I want to tone up and maybe put a little of that weight back on as muscle. When I was losing weight I just ate tuna and vegetables and just generally healthier foods.
As far as my goals go, I'm not exactly aiming for a bodybuilder physique at the moment. I just want to get some decent muscle tone to look a little healthier. Once I get there I'll probably decide to keep going with it, but I'm don't want to set my goals too high quite yet. As I said, I mainly want to work on parts of the upper body now, I'm fairly happy with my lower body for the time being.

So before I will be able to get back to the gym I was looking to buy some things for the apartment. I figured a few benches and free weights would be enough for now but maybe you can help me with a basic setup.
Thanks

A weight bench would be a start. Along with some individual db's (you determine the weight) the two of these can incorporate some good upper body work. Like I said some push and pull work would be a good start though. Once you get you set up then hit me up and we can go from there. Good luck in the mean time!

Some good resources:

Body for Life by Bill Phillips - excellent starter workouts and nutrition program, quite basic, very easy to understand and follow.

Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle (e-book) by Tom Venuto - great 'I want to know WHY' book, focusing on cardio, weights and nutrition.
