New Job concerns

Ok so I started this new job at the #6 accounting firm in the US as a tax accountant. So far Ive been through a week of training and it was a lot of info packed into one week with little retention because of that. I was assigned to my first client with the assistance of a "buddy" but I constantly feel like I am lost and have to ask questions all the time. Everyone is really nice but it makes me so uncomfortable that Im not picking this stuff up faster, although it is nothing at all like college. Im dreading getting called into someones office and getting asked why Im just not fitting in or getting it or stuff like that. I know Im reasonably smart, judging from my peers in college who took similar positions, so I guess they are all going through the same thing??? Is it expected to take a while to learn a new job such as tax accountant?
Im just not used to being lost like this, i was always the go to guy in college, fuck I hope this gets better before busy season in august.
Opinions from those who've worked at bigass accounting firms please?

Nobody absorbs all that information right off the bat. You'll pick it up, it'll just take a little repetition. No worries.

Learn by doing bro.

Im sure they understand that.

Thought the big 6 was know the big 4? How do get 6?

Don't worry about it. The real world is the real world, you'll get it.

I didn't read your post but my advice is to sneak into the wiminz restroom and leave a big steaming deuce in the toilet. It should buy you about a week as they gossip about the possible perpetrator.

You're obviously intelligent, goal oriented, and quick witted, its a good thing that your showing so much trepidation at your big opportunity... studies have proven the frontal lobes work much better when there is moderate anxiety levels... I'm sure no one gets it right away... breathe... you'll get this.:)

Go upper-decker if you're gonna bother with the wimminz restroom at all...

i think you'll feel differently in even one month's time. just learning what you need to do, one or a few tasks at a time, is enough. understanding why you're doing them, how they relate to one another, how they can be improved, etc...comes perhaps more slowly, and in time. but as long as you're getting shit done, you're good.

also, have a clear idea of what is expected of you at any stage. if you're having trouble meeting that, address it. talk to whomever can help you understand what you need to. since you've only been there a week, this is all premature.

post up when you've relaxed a little and feel more confident...bump this thread and we'll have a laugh. mostly at puddlemonkey, because he's a fat stupid piece of whale shit.

Bro in a year you'll be a seasoned vet and training some other clueless fool.

LOL@ expecting breezing through college means you'll conquer the real world of workforce

This shit will eat you alive before you get your first paycheck

show up, do your job, ask questions instead of legging it and fucking up

don't ask the same question more than twice, Nothing worse than telling someone something the same thing multiple times.

I worked with a lady for four year she was so sweet
However she knew no more in her 4 yrs there, than in her first month.
Gawd did we make fun of her behind her back
