New fitness center

PHATchik

Studio Gangsta
My university is opening a new fitness and recreation center this Wednesday (we hope). It was supposed to open in March but there were construction delays. It's going to be free to the students, faculty, and staff. We'll be the only ones allowed to use it. (well, our fees are basically paying our way into it, but that's just details, lol.) The center has 3 indoor basketball courts, a climbing wall, racquetball, a pool, a track, and a very large room with workout equipment in it. I'm assuming there is also going to be a weight room. There better be. That would be stupid if there wasn't. I'm also hoping their equipment is worthwhile and nice workout equipment. This thing has been in the works for 4 years! (Sad huh?) It's going to be nice to have though. Especially since it is right across from my dorm. Sad thing is, I'm only going to live here about 3 more weeks. lol Just thought I would share what might actually be an accomplishment for my school. (It's very rare.)

you can still use it when you move out though innit:) when you go to lectures and stuff

my uni's gym is a small basement (i believe it may have been a steam room/washroom sure to the network of pipes running through it)....everything is rusted or dirty or broken, and not much dioversity in equpemnt (no squat rack :( ). ur very lucky...i had to go jpin a commercial (or expensive) gym :)

We have 2 gyms basically. One is at our dome where our football field is. It's basically for athletes. Then we have another one that is at another building. It's for student use. This one however is going to blow the two out of the water. :D

ahh....sounds good

what happens to the other two? turned into coffee bars? or turned commercial, or left for athletes:confused:

most of the 'athletes' at my uni aren't very athletic in that they dont train much. they just like wearing special clothes that show they are 'athletes' :D

Actually, I say the athletes will still use the one at the dome. They will probably use both that one and the new one. As for the other one, it will still be open. I just don't know if people will use it or not.

only downside i can think of is overcrowding :D and if its THAT big, it shouldnt be too huge a problem

id love to finally join a gym that doesnt have a leaky roof :bawling: (or rather be able to afford to :D)
