New Cell Phone - Nextel, Cingular...?!

My GSM ATT contract is up, and I'd like to switch service to get a good deal on a new phone.. I only want a flip-style phone, and I think I've narrowed it down to 2 choices.. Cingular and Nextel.. anyone have experience with these providers? How's the service? I'm wary of Nextel, everyone I've talked to says calling people who have Nextel can be a pain in the ass, they always get that "please wait whlie the nextel subscriber...." message. The Cingular phone has a camera, which could be cool since I just sold my digicam on ebay, but I do like the direct connect Nextel feature, I've got a few friends who have that aswell.. Anyway, here are the phones

I hat nextel.

And that one way walkie-talkie 3rd grade bullshit is just crap. Why have a one way coversation when you can talk both ways? That was usefull back when airtime was so expensive it saved money by using half the radio channels... but flock... who cares now.

If you're leaning towards Nextel then u might want to wait...there's a new phone (w/ a camera) coming out in July/August! My Nextel works great...I've had them for 4 years now! Guess it depends on the area really. Good Luck!

Ahh that's right, you're from CHI. Nah I really haven't had issues. I like my Nextel - it does what I need to do: make & receive calls nationwide, & radio feature nationwide etc. The only time I didn't have service was when I was on vacation at a place in KY that's not even on the map! LOL They're lucky if they had a cellular phone!
I used to work in the Sears Tower for 4 years & my cell phone would work even in the elevators!

had cingular about 6 months. no dropped calls, but there is occasionally bad reception.
