And I heard a lot more expensive!!!
I don't know it is really matters to be honest with you... Not to sound stupid but I have been with a variety of fake boobs and it seems none are the same no matter what it is made out of or where it is inserted or if it is above or under the muscle. Hard, soft, mushy, real like feeling and even hard on one side and soft on the other. I have talked with a couple doctors and they all seems to say similar things. There are so many variables to the out come.
I think the most important thing is how you take care of them immediately following surgery. And how you take care of yourself. I bought an ex girlfriend boobs. Weeks after they were perfect, then they began to drop more and more and almost looked real to the untrained eye. Then she ended up gaining a lot of weight and now they are just huge and not that nice anymore...
Talk to girls that have got them done and talk to a lot of doctors.

Silicone gives you a more natural feel. They are definately more expensive, even you are willing to fork over the cash it doesn't end there. You will need MRI's done every quarter for the next 2 years.

Remember that they just got reapproved and the FDA is requiring that patients and doctors keep an eye on them. They are safer then ever just to new to leave them alone.

So this is added cost to you the patient, your insurance won't cover so many breast exams in one year specifically because of the implant. This is an added cost that doctors forget to mention to their patient. If you have the discipline to get checked like your supposed to then they are the better implant. until further study reveals that there is no need for the constant check up I would wait!

Good luck,

Today is exactly 1 week since I had my surgery. I made the decision to go with the gel implants for numerous reasons.

1. I have girlfriends who have the saline and the gel and by far the gel look and feel more natural compared to the saline.
2. During the consultation with the doctor you can actually feel the difference when holding the 2 different implants - gel by far feels more natural compared to the fluid filled saline implant which feels less natural.
3. Leakage - even if they rupture they are not fluid filled and can still hold there shape unlike saline which can not.
4. The cost difference was only $1,200 at my doctors office. Yes they are more expensive - mine were $7,000 for gels compared to saline which is $5,800. The way I looked at it what was 1,200 when I wanted the very best.
5. MRI are not mandatory every quarter but recommended every 3 years to make sure there is no ruptures which can be undetected with gels.
6. There is a 10 year warranty on the ones that I have if for any reason a manufacturers defect is discovered I have a full replacement warranty and $2,400 towards hospital cost.
7. According to my doctor they should last at least 15 years and his theory is if there is nothing wrong with them they do not need to be replaced in 15 and can last up to like 25 years.
8. The only down side to gels is the cost, MRI if you decided to do them every 3 years and the fact that health insurance does not cover MRI's but hey in 3 years maybe they will!

I love mine and I am glad I went with the gels. :)

:worried: umm no.

This was an old post but in a way I'm glad it came back up.
My wife was considering the choice as she had to have hers replaced. She had a saline implant leaking/deflating. She had the warranty and chose to go with the new silicone ones with a higher profile. They are very nice. More natural feeling, not as heavy but firmer like real tissue. They were a little more $ but I think most women (& men) will like them much better. My wife went under the muscle both times.

Didn't think there was a miracle cure....still needs to be invented!! I am very happy for your wife. Think that silicone is the best option available today. When i do go for mine, i will def go under the muscle as well.

Hello :) I'm new to this site. Just wanted to voice my opinion here.......
I had mine done in September of 07. I think I had the best experience possible. I was up walking around the very next day!
I decided to go with the Saline Implants. Everyone who's seen them (even my parents who were aganist the surgery) think they look very natural.
At first I was considering the gel implants, but my doctor suggested that I stick to saline. He said that gel implants are more for women who breasts are sagging and need a lift. Of course, thats only one doctors' opinion. But anyhow, I went with saline, and I couldn't be happier!

The best advice I can give to someone considering any kind of surgery is to do research on the doctors!

I'd say silicone. They give that big round saggy jug look that I love. Saline are like too static; they don't move.

My current girlfriend just had silicone implants and a girl I dated a few years ago had saleen, the silicone are alot softer and they do not have the rippeled lock on the sides of the breast, that was such a turn off.
