While watching the Ducks v. Wild hockey game tonight, I made some new avatards...

An afghan weapons strike...

A nuke blowing up a house...

A B-52 dropping flares....

I'm feeling very airpowerish tonight.

LOL..where did you get it? I need a site with some funny ideas as to avatars...

i found mine on some porn site with anime porn advertisments, all i did was resize it to fit EF standards.

on idea on finding cool avatars is to search other boards all over the net, not just fitness ones, but any kind where there is a large user base that allows avatars.

OK.....$200,000 missile on $2,000 car. How to justify?

that car was a ricer, any price for its destruction is warranted

Warfare ain't cheap.

To keep things in perspective, consider the fuel costs involved. A single B-52 on a long range strike mission will use ~45,000 gallons of fuel. It's hard to get exact number on what we pay for it, but a very rough translation into the cost is about $1/gal, so the fuel alone costs $45k. If you think that is a huge bill, consider how much fuel it takes to keep an Army Division on the move. The logistics are staggering.

How about the HARMs that are designed to take out enemy radars? We shoot those suckers like they are going out of style when there are SAMs present. They cost about $280,000 a wack. Are those to expensive to use, or should we just gut it out and fly in a hostile environment because it's more cost effective?

The weapon dropped was most likely a GBU-12 that cost $19,000.

Would you rather have somebody sit on the road and gun it down? Would that be more cost effective? What is the price that you would pay to keep combatants safe? Do you complain when an M-1 Abrams uses its main battle gun to kill a sniper? Is that cost effective?

What price do to put on the equipment for saving the lives of one U.S. soldier?

Thanks for the info. I was thinking that an ordinary car doesn't normally pose a military threat. If it does, take it out.

How much is a soldiers life worth? Impossible question of course. So many variables. Over a million....some a whole lot more....some a little less maybe.

I thought it was one of those $500,000 Tomahawks taking out an old Toyota. Did not make sense to me. If we have $19,000 missiles to do the job then I'm ecstatic.

Wars have bancrupted many civilisations, I'd rather not join them in the history books.

I agree with you on that. Defense spending is probably one of the main reasons the Soviet Union imploded.
